A reminder that you don’t have to be perfect- you just have to DO IT! There is something incredibly empowering about loving and accepting myself fully! As I am 😌💕🙏🏽 Photographed by Solwazi Afi Olusola at Medgar Evers Social Work Conference 2026!

💔 Our hearts are heavy with the recent news of the young life lost at Delta State University. Whether this was an act of violence or a tragic su***de, the grief ripples across communities, especially Black and Brown communities that too often feel unheard and undervalued.
In times like these, it’s important to come together, support one another, and check in on those who may be struggling. Grief, trauma, and loss affect entire communities, and seeking help is a sign of strength.
At Amira For Her, we’re committed to providing a safe space for healing and support. If you or someone you know is struggling with trauma, loss, or emotional overwhelm, reaching out to a mental health professional can help navigate these painful moments.
🖤 You are not alone. Your grief is valid. Your healing matters.

Today is heavy. 💔
One year ago today, my nephew David died by su***de. He was 36. A father. A partner. Deeply loved.
I carry him with me always.
This morning, I met with a young man in his 30s—a husband and father of three—living with untreated bipolar disorder and self-medicating with ma*****na. We talked about his diagnosis, his choices, and his future.
And I thought of David. Of the healing he needed. Of the healing I now help others move toward.
I’m so grateful to do this work—for David, and for all the Davids out there who still have time.
Please check on the men you love.
Let them know they’re not alone.
Help them stay.

We are a group practice made up of women of color practitioners with a focus on providing quality, racially affirming psychotherapy to women and girls of color. We were initially based in Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn, NYC but have moved our practice online and currently are able to see anyone located in New York State. We provide services during off hours, when our clients are available. We offer individual and couples counseling and provide services to children, teens, adults and seniors. We also offer mediation services. We provide services online and can be accessed easily.
Why Therapists for Black Girls?
· Women and girls of color have some of the lowest access to quality mental health services but face some of the most serious and pressing issues.
· Black women and girls and women do not utilize mental health services as often as necessary or as frequently as many other populations.
· When these girls and women do try to access mental health, they are often met with racism, sexism, dismissal and even hostility.
· Lack of access to mental health care causes lasting struggles with issues like Anxiety, Depression, PTSD and other serious concerns.
· Our goal is to provide high quality psychotherapy services to women and girls of color to help improve their overall well-being and prevent the suffering that can happen when issues are not addressed.
We provide services in a small, comfortable, private and supportive environment. For more information:
