Tossing and turning at night? Poor sleep can sneak up on you, starting with a few restless nights and turning into a pattern that affects how you feel every day.

Some people fall asleep easily but never feel rested. Others can't quiet their mind at night, snore loudly, or feel exhausted no matter how long they sleep.

Missing out on quality sleep can take a real toll on your body and mind, but once you figure out what's getting in the way, you can take steps to turn things around.

If something feels different with your heart or breathing, it’s worth paying attention to it.
Cardiologist Renee Bullock-Palmer, MD, shares when to see a cardiologist and the symptoms that should never be ignored.

Chest discomfort doesn’t always feel like “pain.” It can show up as pressure, tightness, or heaviness. Other warning signs may include worsening shortness of breath, fainting, heart palpitations, leg swelling, or difficulty lying flat due to breathing changes.

If symptoms are new, worsening, or occur during activity and improve with rest, it’s time to schedule a screening. Visit: https://demanddeborah.org/?adsource=PalmerReel032026

This weekend, we spring forward, bringing warmer days, longer evenings, and more sunshine ahead.

However, losing that hour can also shake up our internal sleep rhythm and increase stress on the body. For individuals managing a pulmonary or cardiovascular condition, quality sleep is a crucial component of overall health and recovery.

Small, consistent habits can make a meaningful difference, especially when supporting heart and lung health.

Heart disease screening starts with information.

Jennifer Joiner, APN, shares what you can expect from a comprehensive heart screening at Deborah. It begins with a conversation about your personal and family history, medications, and risk factors. From there, we may recommend diagnostic testing such as an EKG, echocardiogram, or stress test, depending on your needs.

Most importantly, it’s a partnership. We focus on what matters to you and work together to help you get back to the life you enjoy.

Screenings give us knowledge, and knowledge is power.

Heart disease risk isn’t the same for everyone, and for women, some risk factors often go unrecognized.
Pregnancy complications like preeclampsia, preterm birth, and gestational diabetes, along with early menopause and autoimmune conditions such as lupus, can increase long-term cardiovascular risk. Family history and smoking remain important risks for everyone.
When you understand your risk, you can take meaningful steps to protect your heart. Take Deborah’s online Heart Health Risk Assessment today: https://ow.ly/HsYp50YncYJ

Feeling more tired than usual? Getting winded doing everyday activities? Noticing swelling in your legs or feet? These symptoms are often brushed off as “just aging,” but they can be warning signs of heart valve disease.

Jennifer Joiner, APN, shares an important reminder: you don’t have to feel bad just because you’re getting older. Shortness of breath, chest tightness, dizziness, and swelling are not a normal part of aging — they’re signs worth checking.

Early detection matters. If something feels different, talk to your provider or a heart specialist. Learn more at: https://demanddeborah.org/conditions/heart-valve-disease/
