Heads up:
we’ve heard from multiple patients and other independent pharmacies that some PBMs, particularly Aetna (aka CVS), are systematically telling patients their locally owned pharmacies are “not in network”.

THIS IS NOT TRUE.

They do this to try to “trick” you into using the pharmacies/mail-order pharmacies they own.

It is illegal in Georgia for your insurer to require you to use a specific pharmacy. These companies don’t care about the law, but you can normally opt out by calling the number on the back of your card.

A FEW INSURANCE REMINDERS FROM YOUR PHARMACIST:

1. If you have a deductible, it just started over. 😞

2. If your insurance changed on Jan 1st, you may have to get new prior authorizations.

3. Out of pocket maximums just restarted.

4. No pharmacy controls your copays. We send claims to your insurance in real-time and they immediately send us back what your copay is.

5. There’s a chance, even if you have the same insurance, that your medication was dropped from their formulary or the tier has changed.

6. These changes occur on the date the prescription was RAN on insurance. Long story short: PICK UP YOUR MEDS, because if you don’t pick them up in time they will have to be reran in 2026, which may drastically alter your copays.

7. WE WORK HARD TO MAKE SURE YOU’RE PAYING THE BEST PRICE AND LEAVE HAPPY. If you think we may have missed something, politely let us know!
