"Sitting with suffering is hard, whether you have suffered similarly, or not. Sitting with suffering requires us to protect ourselves from the invisible daggers that pierce our own hearts while we focus on bearing witness to her pain. This is when we grab onto all holding points at once, take a deep breath, and sit in stillness. How you manage this is largely dependent on your individual and therapeutic style. For me, when I am sitting with unbearable energy, I feel my chest tighten from the weight of her suffering and while I don’t feel particularly bad, I do feel as though I am physically trying to steady myself against howling winds. I breathe slowly and deeply to soften my tightening muscles, I plant my feet flat on the floor, and I gaze softly into her eyes. It is powerful. It is 'magic.'"

We loved having the opportunity to present to a zoom room full of dedicated perinatal therapists, doulas, midwives, medical providers and birthworkers in the New Jersey area.

Tons of gratitude to Yessenia, Lauraine, and Soraya on behalf of NJ Postpartum Resource and Support Network and for Maternal and Child Health of Northern NJ - for your impressive commitment to your work and the amazing joyful energy that permeated our space together. xo

🔥 Wahoooo! TODAY is submission day! 🔥

We have completed our manuscript, comics, and all things hashtag . This will be the third book in the "GOOD MOMS" series and will address OCD and new parents, with the same digestible format and graphic material as the previous books.

We are beyond thrilled to move forward with this much needed resource so we can get it in the hands of the families who need the support. We will share details as soon as we can!

With tons of gratitude to my colleague and lead trainer, @ Noah Suzuki, our illustrator McIntyre, our sensitivity reader, Spera and our publisher Familius 💜

"I felt so good yesterday, like my old self again. It was wonderful. I thought for sure I was better. Now I feel funny again. Why is this happening?"
— Heather, 6 mos pp

"Recovery is an ongoing process with a beginning, middle, and end. While the specific course of recovery differs for each individual, there are certain features that are fairly typical of the recovery period.

You may begin to notice that other people think you’re better before you do. This is common. Chances are, you’re getting pretty good at putting on a cheerful face for the world, and soon you will hear comments like, “I see you’re back to your old self again!” or the equally insensitive, albeit well-meaning, “See, having a baby isn’t so bad, is it?”

Although this kind of feedback may feel a bit premature, other people may have a more objective perspective that allows them to pick up signs of improvement before you do. When you hear comments that suggest you may be beginning to recover, try to see them as anticipatory and, most likely, reliable measures of this first phase of the recovery process.

If you find such comments to be bothersome, there are several ways you can respond to statements like, “You look wonderful. You must be feeling great.

🌿You can ignore them.

🌿You can refocus by acknowledging what was said, but adding a piece of reality, such as “Yes, I’m starting to have good days now.”

🌿You can deflect them by saying, “Thank you,” or some other vague comment."
