There are so many amazing people who support families on their feeding journey: doulas, peer counselors, nurses, and community support groups. Each play an important role in caring for moms and babies. An IBCLC (International Board Certified Lactation Consultant) brings an additional level of specialized training in lactation and infant feeding.
Here’s what that can look like for you:
Deeper clinical training
IBCLCs are trained to assess feeding challenges like latch issues, milk supply concerns, weight gain, and pumping needs and perform breast assessments and infant oral assessments.
Individualized care
Support that’s tailored to your goals whether that’s breastfeeding, pumping, combo feeding, or simply feeling more confident.
When challenges arise
If feeding isn’t going as expected, an IBCLC can help troubleshoot and create a plan that supports both mom and baby.
Part of your support team
IBCLCs often work alongside doulas, providers, and peer counselors to make sure families feel supported from every angle.
No matter who is in your circle, you deserve support that feels right for you.
