When you take piano lessons with our studio, we start with the foundations and fundamentals of music. When our students learn and practice each new concept that is introduced - ie, the piano keys, our finger numbers, theory, ear training, rhythm, and tempo - they learn not only how to play the piano - they learn how to play music, which is applicable to almost any other instrument out there!

The foundations of music should never be skipped for the sake of having fun. We teachers here at Artistic Elements put the FUN in the fundamentals!

On Saturday afternoon , 2/7/26, I took my children to the Philadelphia Orchestra. We heard the performances of an abridged version of Beethoven's 5th and Barber of Seville followed by Peter and the Wolf. It was spectacular, as always!

Before beginning, the guest conductor, Naomi Woo, told us that growing up she never thought she could become a conductor because there was no one that looked like her; Asian and female. This, I know, is an all too familiar story for many minorities and immigrants, especially those who are women.

It was a good reminder the importance and value of cultural influence on the arts. Without inclusivity and diversity, beautiful music would cease to exist! Thank you for this valuable reminder and lesson, Miss Woo, as well as the The Philadelphia Orchestra & Ensemble Arts Philly!
