Join us as we'll be blending East and West for Healing and Disease Prevention - Monday, October 20th, 8-9:30pm CDT (Online Event).

This workshop is about looking at common health challenges from both East and West—so you get the full picture. We'll cover things like heart health, digestion, and inflammation, blending modern science with yogic and Ayurvedic wisdom.

For example, when we talk about cardiovascular health, we'll look at what doctors say about circulation, blood pressure, and cholesterol, but also explore how the heart chakra (Anahata) plays a role in emotional balance and energy flow. When we touch on digestive issues, we'll pair insights from gastroenterology with the yogic view of Manipura—the solar plexus center linked to fire, power, and transformation.

Each workshop is a mix of information, discussion, and practical tips—always circling back to natural ways to restore balance and simple practices you can bring into daily life.

Spiritual development can begin with food.
The standards imposed by society are not necessarily the right ones, nor the path everyone must follow. We, too, came from an environment where eating meat and drinking milk were considered normal. We remain deeply grateful for the many health issues we began experiencing at a fairly young age — they were what initially pushed us to change our diet.

Our journey moved from eating everything (thankfully, mostly homemade meals), to macrobiotics, then to veganism, and eventually to a raw plant-based diet. It was only after changing our way of eating that realizations began to arise — about the destruction of the Planet and the suffering of other living beings caused by the unconscious behavior of humanity.

Gradually, along with the physical cleansing of the body, our worldview began to change. Our thoughts and intentions became clearer, compassion deepened, and the desire to serve others grew — to share knowledge about self-development while continuing to evolve ourselves.

Through our own experience, we have seen that a proper, balanced, whole-food plant-based diet can bring moments of insight, awakening, and spiritual growth. Plant-based nutrition can become a gateway to awareness and spirituality — not only strengthening physical health but also opening the path to higher consciousness.

Nasya - A Simple Ayurvedic Practice for Balance and Clarity

Nasya is a traditional Ayurvedic practice of applying a few drops of warm oil (usually sesame or herbalized oil) into the nostrils. This simple ritual nourishes the senses, supports the respiratory system, harmonizes both body and mind, and is especially helpful during the Vata time - colder time of the year.

It can be done once or twice a day - in the morning, evening, or after jala neti (nasal cleansing which we wrote about 10 posts ago).

Physical Benefits
🧍‍♀️Balances and calms the mind
🧍‍♀️Decongests and helps restore damaged nasal cilia
🧍‍♀️Promotes unobstructed airflow to the brain, enhancing oxygenation and nourishment
🧍‍♀️Protects nasal membranes from dryness and cracking
🧍‍♀️Helps dissolve and expel blockages in the sinus and frontal cavities
🧍‍♀️Keeps mucus thin and easy to eliminate
🧍‍♀️Supports the immune system and protects against infections

Energetic Benefits
🧎‍♀️Balances the natural flow of prana (life energy)
🧎Aligns and clears the subtle energy channels (nadis)
🧎Pacifies Vata dosha, easing restlessness and overactivity of the mind
🧎Enhances mental clarity, focus, and calm
🧎Promotes grounding and inner stability

Mental & Emotional Benefits
🧘Calms the nervous system and relieves mental tension
🧘Promotes clarity, focus, and alertness
🧘Reduces anxiety, overthinking, and emotional fatigue
🧘Enhances mood and emotional balance
🧘Supports restful sleep and overall peace
🧘Encourages mindfulness and deeper self-awareness

How to DO IT
Tilt your head slightly back and, using a dropper, place 2–4 drops of warm oil into each nostril. Inhale gently to draw it in. It’s normal for the oil to travel down to the back of the throat.

Namaste 🙏 Wishing you health, balance, and awareness.

This Japanese proverb is similar to the saying, ‘What doesn’t break us makes us stronger.’ One interpretation is that it encourages young people to endure challenges as a way of building character, developing strength, tenacity, and resilience, while gaining valuable experience for the journey ahead.

In yogic philosophy, such challenges are understood as tapas — the inner fire of discipline and endurance that purifies body and mind, strengthens willpower, and supports inner growth. When faced with awareness, trials become a path of purification, transforming obstacles into stepping stones toward resilience, clarity, and self-realization. With each hardship endured properly and nobly, negative karma diminishes.

We can also cultivate gratitude for those who challenge or hurt us, for their actions become teachers, offering opportunities to grow in wisdom, patience, and inner strength. Difficult people and situations, though uncomfortable, guide us toward deeper self-awareness and understanding of life.

Ultimately, it is important to remember that the difficulties we experience are often the results of our own past actions. Recognizing this allows us to take responsibility, act with awareness, and transform challenges into lessons that foster growth, clarity, and inner evolution.

These musings are inspired by ancient texts and my yoga teachers at .ru.

Oil Pulling (Gandusha) – Ancient Ayurvedic Oral Detox 🪥🌿

Take 1 tbsp cold-pressed sesame or coconut oil first thing in the morning. Swish vigorously for 3–5 minutes (or until foamy) and spit out—never swallow. The oil draws out bacteria, toxins, and excess mucus from gums, mouth, salivary ducts, and even the stomach.
(Tip: use a properly lined/double bagged trash can, not the sink for the used oil. Be prepared to clean your sink more often than before - a worthwhile sacrifice.)

The choice of oil may depend on your goals, the season, and your dosha. Add a drop of tea tree oil for antiseptic action. High-mineral salt can be added for tooth remineralization.

Practice before eating, drinking, or brushing teeth. Practice so simple that even children can do it.

Regular gandusha supports oral health, improves digestion, strengthens joints and cartilage, increases mobility, and reduces stiffness.

A small practice, a powerful impact!

A simple daily ritual with mighty cleansing and revitalizing effects!

Do you practice gandusha?

A different view of the physical body

What we call the physical body is just organized matter—visible, tangible, and temporary. Ayurveda calls the physical body Sthoola Sarira. Without consciousness, it would be nothing more than a pile of elements. What makes it alive, intelligent, and functional is the deeper organizing force behind it.

Food isn't our primary source of energy—it’s actually the heaviest and most “expensive” way to fuel the body. Turning food into energy requires burning, processing, and creates waste and byproducts that the body struggles to fully eliminate. Over time, those residues build up in the tissues and channels, blocking vital flow and eventually leading to disease and aging.

The body itself does not generate energy—it reflects it. It’s a material expression of a deeper intelligence. Modern thinking reverses this, mistaking the form for the source.

In reality, the body is shaped, sustained, and animated by consciousness and life force—not the other way around.

Detox is not a trend, and it was never meant to be glamorous. (Although fresh fruit and vegetables and juices and smoothies are absolutely spectacular, we have to say!) It’s one of the most ancient and universal healing modalities we have. In traditional systems of medicine—Ayurveda, Chinese medicine, naturopathy, folk medicine—detoxification is the first line of treatment. Before you add, you remove. Before you heal, you clear the path. It’s the biological equivalent of rebooting a computer: the most basic and effective troubleshooting method.

What’s marketed today as detox diets or cleanses is largely a modern repackaging of time-tested practices. Religious fasts across cultures are, in fact, structured detoxification programs—developed long before the concept had a name.

And historically, detox was never limited to the physical body. For thousands of years—and according to some traditions, for millions—cleansing was inseparable from mental clarity and spiritual development. Purifying the body meant refining perception and elevating consciousness.

Tongue scraping is a powerful yet simple Ayurvedic detox ritual meant to be done daily. This 3-minute morning practice plays an important role in preserving health and supporting immunity.

When we scrape the tongue, we’re not only removing toxic buildup — we are also gently massaging the internal organs and stimulating their proper function.

How to do it:
Use a stainless-steel tongue scraper and make 7–14 strokes from the root of the tongue outward, gently removing the coating. Rinse the scraper under warm water after each stroke. Pay attention to any unusual sensations or slight bleeding.

Add this indispensable detox routine to your morning regimen for a real boost in health and vitality.

We teach this and many other Ayurvedic self-care practices in our 3-week guided online REJUVENATE Detox Program.
Next round begins Monday, October 6. There’s still time to join us:

Coffee - An Energy Loan

A persistent desire for coffee is often more than a harmless habit—it can indicate high acidity, toxic overload, and depleted energy reserves. Yet coffee consumption keeps rising. About 66% of American adults drink coffee daily, Europe consumes over 240 million kilograms a year, and the Asia-Pacific region is quickly catching up as younger generations imitate Western habits.

Some modern voices even claim coffee belongs in a yogic lifestyle, but no ancient yogic texts support this. Coffee is an addiction—no matter how we try to dress it up—and there is nothing inherently health-promoting about it.

Coffee Acts Like a Drug

Coffee alters physiology in ways that mimic hormonal reactions:
It blocks adenosine, shutting down sleep signals.
It triggers adrenaline release.
It affects cortisol and dopamine levels.

This creates a temporary “high” and the illusion of heightened performance. But after the spike comes the crash—the “dopamine hole.” Without another dose, many people experience lethargy, irritability, restlessness, or even anger. The body begins to demand the drug that created the imbalance.

This cycle is self-deception: a constant chase after artificial stimulation, a senseless pursuit of pleasure. It wastes our TAPAS—our inner spiritual fire and capacity for transformation. Coffee doesn’t give energy; it BURNS your energy. It depletes rather than supports self-evolution and inner clarity.

If we are serious about growth, creativity, and consciousness, we must stop outsourcing vitality. Get your dopamine from your yoga practice, not from a stimulant. Addiction limits freedom. Coffee robs you of the right to choose how you feel.

How to Break Free From Coffee Dependence

You can gently reduce your reliance on coffee by shifting habits:
Drink warm lemon water in the morning.
Have warm water when a craving hits.
Choose fresh juice, herbal tea, chicory, or maya nut alternatives.
Practice yoga regularly.
Spend more time outdoors.
Meditate.
Go on a Vipassana retreat.
Detox coffee from your system.

We’ve helped many people release their coffee addiction—and they consistently report feelings of lightness, peace, and freedom.

Know the Metaphysical Self

Beyond the limits of our five senses lies a subtle reality—vast, luminous, and interwoven with the quantum realms. This hidden dimension is not separate from us; it is our intrinsic nature. To awaken to it is our birthright.

Touching this inner reality transforms everything. Your scale of values shifts. Your life purpose becomes clear. Questions dissolve, doubts fall away. You perceive the true nature of energy and matter. You recognize that physical health is not an end but a mirror of inner alignment—a tool that invites you to explore deeper spectrums and correct the karmic patterns that shadow your path.

And this is only the beginning. Here lies the fullness of human life. Here lies true freedom.

Yet, the doorway opens only through a living code of conduct—a path walked by those who have crossed the bridge before us. Walk their path, refine your being, and your inner perception will open. We will meet on the other side.

09/24/2025

TV, social media, and print outlets across the globe are saturated with negative news. Bleakness and uncertainty seem to permeate many lives. People feel that something is brewing. They complain about their living conditions, the lack of opportunities, blame their families, criticize their governments, take to the streets, or stir storms online.

I am not saying that speaking out has no value. But let’s try a different approach—let’s look at the situation from another angle. Some, perhaps many, will disagree and dismiss this as too esoteric. Still, allow the thought that it just might be possible.

Yoga—not as a set of exercises, but as the most ancient art and science of life—teaches that we find ourselves in circumstances that reflect karmic consequences. Put simply: the conditions surrounding us are not accidental. They are linked to something we have done, perhaps even in past lives.

Yes, this idea can sound wild, even unsettling. But it also carries a profound light: if we truly know deep inside that every action has a consequence, we may feel inspired to treat others the way we wish to be treated—creating not more negativity down the road, but positive steps forward on the path of evolution.

Yoga offers tools and practices to help us reach higher states of consciousness and a clearer level of discernment. And here, I mean both yoga in its fuller sense and, yes, the physical practice, sweating on the mat—along with meditation. And purification of the body and the mind (detox).

What are your thoughts?
