🐾💜 It’s never too soon to check your dog for lumps and bumps. Early detection gives you the best chance to catch changes quickly—and that can make all the difference if cancer develops.

🐶✨ Take a few minutes during cuddle time or grooming to give your pup a gentle once-over. Their health is worth it. 🌸

🐾💛 Is My Dog Happy and Healthy? Here's How You Can Tell! 🌞

Our dogs can’t use words, but they do tell us how they feel — if we know what to look for. A happy, healthy pup radiates joy in the little things.

✨ Signs your dog is doing well:
• Bright eyes and a wagging tail
• Good appetite and normal weight
• Eager to play, explore, or cuddle
• Smooth, shiny coat and healthy skin
• Normal bathroom habits
• Relaxed body language — no signs of stress or pain
• Loving connection with you 🐶💕

When your dog is content, they feel safe, loved, and well cared for — and that’s all because of you.

But if anything ever feels “off,” even a small change, don’t hesitate to call your vet. You're your dog’s best advocate, and early action can make a big difference.

🚽💛 Bladder Cancer in Dogs: What You Should Know 🐶

Bladder cancer, especially a type called transitional cell carcinoma (TCC), can affect dogs just like it does people. It often starts in the lining of the bladder and can cause subtle symptoms that are easy to miss.

🔍 Watch for signs like:
• Straining to urinate
• Frequent urination
• Blood in urine
• Accidents in the house
• Recurring UTIs that don’t respond to antibiotics

These symptoms can mimic other conditions, which is why early vet care is so important.

🧬 Treatment options may include:
• Medications to shrink or slow tumor growth
• Chemotherapy
• Surgery or laser removal (in select cases)
• Palliative care to ease discomfort

💛 You know your dog best — if something seems off, trust your instincts. Early detection can bring more time, more comfort, and more love.

The Drake Dog Cancer Foundation is here to walk beside you, every step of the way.

Why Bladder Cancer is So Challenging

With current treatments, many dogs can enjoy 6-12 months of good quality life, though unfortunately this cancer is ultimately fatal in most cases.

🎗️ Understanding Dog Cancer Treatments 🐾

Facing a cancer diagnosis in your dog is one of the hardest moments a pet parent can experience. But you're not alone — and there are treatment options.

💉 Common treatments include:
• Surgery – to remove tumors when possible
• Chemotherapy – to slow or stop cancer cells
• Radiation therapy – to target specific areas
• Immunotherapy – to help the body fight cancer
• Palliative care – to manage symptoms and improve quality of life

Every dog is different, and so is every treatment plan. Your veterinarian or veterinary oncologist can help you decide what’s right for your pup — based on their type of cancer, stage, age, and overall health.

✨ The goal? Comfort, dignity, and time — together.

Breaking Down Dog Cancer Treatments

Let's break down the three main treatment options—surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation—in simple terms so you can make the best decision for your furry family member.

🌿🐾 Lymphoma in Dogs: What Every Pet Parent Should Know 🐾🌿

Lymphoma is one of the most common cancers in dogs. It develops in the lymphatic system, which is part of the body’s immune defense. While it can feel overwhelming to hear, early awareness makes a huge difference.

👉 Signs may include swollen lymph nodes (often felt under the jaw or behind the knees), loss of appetite, lethargy, weight loss, or changes in behavior.
👉 Regular check-ups with your veterinarian help ensure that subtle changes aren’t overlooked.
👉 With knowledge, support, and proactive care, you can advocate for your dog’s health and well-being.

💜 At the Drake Dog Cancer Foundation, we’re here to share education, resources, and hope with every family navigating this journey.

📌 Save this post as a reminder of what to watch for, and share it to help another dog parent who may need this information.

💛 Pet Parents, You Matter Too 🐾

Whether your dog is living with cancer, recovering from illness, or simply growing older, your love, time, and care make all the difference.

But here’s something just as important: Taking care of yourself.

Being a caregiver, even to the sweetest soul with four paws, can be emotionally and physically draining. You may find yourself feeling anxious, exhausted, or overwhelmed, and that’s okay.

🌿 Self-care isn’t selfish.
It helps you stay strong for your pup and for yourself.

Take a walk. Rest without guilt. Talk to someone who understands. Eat a nourishing meal. Ask for help when you need it.

Because when you care for yourself, you’re better equipped to give your dog the calm, loving presence they need most. And you deserve peace, too.

With love,
The Drake Dog Cancer Foundation 💛
