Have you had a successful surgery?

Anyone here experience a meniscus tear surgery? That is next on my list of experiences!
Any advice is welcomed.

Guess the joints are just bad. In the waiting room to get fitted for a knee brace while waiting for an MRI to be approved on my right knee.

Fast forward a year plus 3 months and my shoulder is not without some twinges and some mild soreness after a good days work (I lift heavy items all day) or having slept on it for more than half the night. I knew it would be a long rehab to hopefully get back to zero pain, and although I feel I am not 100 perfect, the success I had with my surgery affords me to use my shoulder without sharp and debilitating pain.
How has your recovery gone? Like expected? Better than expected? Or back to the drawing board?

I have no skin in this game, just came across it and thought it might be something that could help people in this group?

Anyone have any experience with this?

I may give it a try, seems like it could be helpful in many ways.

Had my 9 month follow up today...slight twinges from time to time but no great concerns on the repaired shoulder...however I now have tingling, numbness in my right hand (opposite) which gets so painful in the evening while sleeping that it wakes me up...Dr. scheduled a EMG test for end of January witht the hint of carpal tunnel surgery in my future...
Anyone have any experience with that neurogical test (with needles) and/or the actual surgery itself?

6 month post op today. I am still tight and some discomfort lifting things over head but I feel like I am improving weekly and have returned to work doing most things required. I am cautious, oh so cautious!

The PA offered me a cortisone shot, which I swiftly declined...more so because I want to trust my bodies signals and not mask any discomfort that may arise. I do need to work on increasing my strength and will do just that. Overall I am happy with my progress.

One last item of note, I still do not sleep on my repaired shoulder, just don’t feel confident in that position yet...still supporting the shoulder while sleeping on my right side or flat on my back.

Next follow up will be in 3 months, 9 month mark.

So when I started this page, I was just recouping after a pretty major rotor cuff & labrum surgery plus a bone spur shave...Fast forward to today and on September 18th I have my 6 month post op appointment.

I feel like I am well healed and my range of motion is about 75%. I still sleep on my other side, do not lift more than about 10lbs and limit my activities (no roller coasters etc.) to basic driving and use my right hand and arm for most things. I continue to go to PT, although not as often as previous weeks, I am down to my last 6 visits (insurance paid) for the year.

What I was hoping has happened...many posts, questions and responses and no one being a jerk! Lol

Let's start by telling everyone where they are from and getting some location specific information out there...I loved my Ortho Surgeon and I am in WNY (Buffalo, NY) - Dr. O'Hara was so easy to talk to, bed side manner was so gentle and understood that I was scared to death, this being my first surgery!

Your turn...GO!

13 weeks post off this past Thursday. Still doing PT 2x’s a week and doing stretches and exercises at home. We have progressed to working on increasing strength with weight increased on some moves. Feeling about 35-40% improved from the start of PT.
Sleeping with a pillow shoved under my arm while on right side - left side was repaired.
Feeling more confident that I will be able to get to full use down the road. Slow and steady wins the race...goal remains to hug my daughter (tight) with no pain.

Today is my 12 week post op follow up with my surgeons PA. Excited to show my progress with PT and the range of motion so far. Still sore, unable to lift more than basic everyday items (more out of fear) but feel like I am moving steadily forward.

After doing some research (10 weeks post op this past Thursday) and speaking to my physical therapist I will be starting a regimen of tart cherry 🍒 juice and turmeric as an aid for inflation. It seems that I am now beginning to be sore in varies non incision areas and would like to see if I can ease this with some added targeted aids. My bicep, elbow and even forearm at times seem more affected than previous. I will update this post in about 2 weeks. Anyone else using any supplements to support healing or reduce inflammation?

9 weeks post op and PT therapist is starting to increase some weight, add new stretches and exercises. Feel like range of motion is constantly improving. That being said, if I had to guess, I am in the 20% improvement range from being totally immobile to now. Started looking into supplements to help with tendons, muscles and other connective tissue.
