✨Diet culture and the fitness industry are incredibly creative, and intelligent when it comes to how they choose to market their services and products.✨
We are being sold almost the exact same fad-diets today as we were in the early 2000s... the only difference are the names and how they choose to advertise them. Pay attention!

What do you prefer in your lettuce wraps? 🥬

Have you tried the ‘glue technique’ to keep everything wrapped together nicely, and stored neatly for meal prep?

It’s so simple!

✨Try this✨
•add dressing or sauce of choice to an extra piece of lettuce (as pictured)
•lay flat, dressing side down, on top of all fillers
•use tin foil to assist as you roll lettuce wrap together tightly
•done!

So easy, and changes the lettuce wrap game 🙌🏻

Kindness, generosity, and serving others are all incredibly important actions needed amongst humanity. 🖤

Knowing the world tremendously lacks these things impacts empathetic people and their well-being a lot. Discovering I am a very emotional, intuitive, empathetic human AND accepting it has been challenging. I legitimately feel every emotion very deeply, and cry from being so overwhelmed.
I know a lot of you can relate, and I appreciate you contacting me and sharing these vulnurable pieces of your world with me! I see you! 🥹

What happens when you give, give, give too much? Is there such thing as giving other people more than you should?
YES. It IS possible. (It is also theorized those of us who over-give do so with a subconscious desire to receive something we are lacking. This isn’t a fact, just a theory.)

Being an over-giver has been a strength, but also a toxic flaw of mine. 😵‍💫
It seems to become more toxic the older I get.

✨Where is the balance between losing yourself in the service of others, AND losing your mind because you are not taking care of your overall well-being?✨

Here are some things to remind yourself when you feel the pressure to sacrifice far too much of yourself:

•you are not a doormat
•you do not ‘owe’ anyone, anything
•resentment will ruin friendships/relationships
•do not give others the space to criticize you for not doing as much this time, as you did last time
•when others have high expectations of you and your generosity, it is not your responsibility to protect them from feeling disappointed when you are not going generously give a piece of yourself this time around
•”NO.” is a complete sentence
•not everything requires an immediate response, excuse, or explanation
•sacrificing your basic needs, and mental well-being regularly in order to help someone else is a slippery slope… don’t forget sometimes YOU are the one in need.

BE KIND.👏🏻BE GENEROUS.👏🏻SERVE OTHERS.👏🏻
…being an over-giver requires setting boundaries with yourself and others.🖤

Do you prefer your breakfast to be savory, or sweet? ☀️

My go-to breakfast prep is always fried sweet potatoes, chorizo, and sautéed bell peppers! (when I have time or I’m preparing for an active activity, I’ll toss an egg in there too 😋)

I have a very important question...

HOW CAN WE PREVENT OURSELVES FROM PROJECTING OUR OWN FOOD AND BODY INSECURITIES ONTO OUR CHILDREN, AND OTHER IMPRESSIONABLE YOUNG PEOPLE? 🤷🏼‍♀️

It is proven those with a family history of addiction, and mental health diagnosis’ are 4x more likely to be clinically diagnosed with an eating disorder.

Also, disordered eating patterns may be learned in the home and/or in school from others around them. ✨Keep in mind this was 99% of the time completely unintentional.✨

Food-science, and health being solely associated with a person’s body composition has advanced tremendously in the last 15-20 years. Long-term health consequences were unknown, and the education on these things didn’t even exist.

How do we break the cycle for future generations to come?

What changes can we make in our homes to encourage and teach healthy habits, and prevent impressionable young people from over-indulging too often, or restricting their intake dangerously?

How can we stop shaming body types and/or weight fluctuation children and teenagers naturally endure throughout puberty?

How do we teach our youth to take care of their bodies, in a sustainable and healthy way?

✨The only solution is to start with YOU.✨We can’t successfully teach, and set a genuine example of things we don’t live ourselves.

I see clients as young as 9 years old who suffer from anorexia, bulimia, and believing they are not worthy due to their body composition. It’s both eye-opening and heartbreaking.

Our youth deserve so much better. 🤍

⚠️TW: this post contains references to eating disorders, diet culture, and unhealthy exercise habits that may be upsetting.

NPC competitions are unsafe. Period. There’s nothing that will change my mind after the extensive research I have done as a nutritional therapist trying to discover a safe way to prep for these ridiculous competitions. I genuinely wanted to offer this info to the world, but unfortunately there was no answer.

I have received some backlash on this topic, but I still stand firmly in my belief. (10 years ago I would’ve probably attempted to argue with me too.) I experienced the process of show-prepping first hand and was exposed to the unsavory truths of the diet and exercise industry. Let me tell you, there’s a LOT of scary practices most of you are probably unaware of.

Imagine being persuaded to take illegal steroids, buy/take an unnecessary amount of sub-par supplements, and put your body through hell just so your trainer can make a quick buck.

Is there anything appropriate about a 19/20 year old girl standing in her underwear, bending over for a male trainer to evaluate her hamstring development? (oh ya, with nobody else present or in the room with you)
Why did this feel normal, safe, and educational? My heart breaks for 20 year old me who was manipulated into believing this was okay.

I cannot express the importance of educating our youth on the dangers of this industry enough.

Health, exercise, and eating in a way that serves your physical AND mental health are so valuable. We can implement these habits in a way that bring us joy. Why were we educated to believe otherwise?
Why is food still utilized as a punishment or reward? Why is exercise associated with punishment so often?
Pay attention to your vocabulary when speaking about these topics.

When my body’s aesthetic fit society’s standards of what is considered beautiful the most… I was dangerously unhealthy.

We can do better. 🤍
