This Has Always Been the Work

When people look at me now — at The Serenity Haus, at the artists, the wellness programs, the stages — they might think music is something I just stepped into.
But the truth is: this work has always been in me.

🎶 Music was never just sound — it was purpose.
🧠 Wellness was never a trend — it was the mission.
🌍 And transformation was always the goal.

In 2007, I opened my living room to young girls from my neighborhood — girls who were told their futures had to fit inside narrow boxes: teacher, doctor, nurse.
While those paths are beautiful, I wanted them to see something more — that artistry is a calling, and that joy, purpose, and stability can come from honoring what’s in your heart.

What began in a small living room grew into a vision that reached across oceans — partnering with the Ugandan, Malawian, and Ghanaian Parliaments to open schools and bring music, mental well-being, and community to youth who had been told to dream smaller.

It’s taken time — years of refining, healing, and aligning — to name this work fully.

Now, I stand firm in what it has always been:

The Haus Foundation — the extra arm of , carrying our legacy of creative education, mental wellness, and global community impact.

This isn’t a new chapter — it’s a continuation of the story that’s always been written. And I’m grateful to every soul who helped light the way.

Thank you, , for being one of the first mentors to my girls. 💛

I won’t say much, but what I will say is:

• It never gave “I wasn’t putting on for my city.”
• It never gave “I wasn’t making sure our city was seen.”
• It never gave “I wasn’t introducing you to the PROS born and bred in Jersey.”

All I’ll say for now… head over to ’s bio, tap “more,” then watch what happens next.

And remember: “Be great — whatever that means to you”

’ve been called by many names. But if you truly know me, you call me Ny-Boogie. And if you call me Ny-Boogie, it’s because you knew me in the trenches—when my heart was wide open, when I was at my most creative, when you witnessed the raw journey that unfolded alongside Lauryn Hill.

Many don’t know that at 14, while I was blowing out candles that said Happy Birthday, Little Lauryn, I was also being offered a record deal with RCA. I was just a girl in Newark, singing Lauryn’s songs on my walk to Broad and Market, teaching myself songwriting by breaking down her lyrics, pouring my heart into the music as if it were oxygen. I’d sit on the stoop crying, saying out loud, I can’t wait to meet this lady.

Lauryn Hill—the woman who lived up the street, who sang about the Boylan Avenue Pool where I played as a child—changed my life without ever knowing me. I’d go to the studio, just missing her. I’d walk up the street and hear she was there, but never touch her presence. Still, her voice reached me. She became my silent teacher, showing me through her art that I could be anything I wanted in music.

Her words saved me. Her story mirrored mine. And though I was named after her, lived beside her, carried her in my spirit, I had never once seen her perform.

Until now.

In my 40s, I finally stood in front of Lauryn Hill—listening, crying, barely able to breathe—as she sang one of my favorite songs. In that moment, the little girl, Ny-Boogie, Lil’ Lauryn, came rushing back. Tears in my eyes, I was reminded: what you desire will come. It may take decades, it may arrive in a form you never imagined, but it will come in the exact way it’s meant to.

I am proof.
A little girl from Newark.
Still here. Still standing.

When Nyeesha founded Serenity Haus, she made a vow: never forget where it all began.

Newark, New Jersey shaped her—its grit, its heart, its raw creativity. So it was a non-negotiable to make sure she brought that spirit into every space that was built.

Whether technical or experimental, artistry here is taken seriously. Every collaborator, every choreographer, every mentor that walks through our doors is chosen with intention. Not just for what they do—but for how deeply they care about the craft.

What you’re seeing here? It’s not just a rehearsal. It’s development. Real, rigorous, intentional work that happens behind the scenes.

There’s laughter. There’s joy.
But there’s also sweat. Stress. Surrendering. & Breakthroughs.

Because while we’re a luxury brand, we don’t shy away from the hard work.
We go deep so our artists can rise.

This is family. This is Jersey.
This is Serenity Haus.

Summer break is almost over, which means it’s back to homeschooling two kids (the oldest already graduated 👩🏾‍🎓) — while managing two artists who are currently touring through the end of the year.

I don’t know who told me to homeschool and help shift an entire industry as a mother — centering wellness, integrity, and real artist development… but here I am being a 💅🏾
