To provide some balance, I would like to point out that not all of KTRE's reporting is bad. Brooke Dearing did a really nice piece on 4R Farm that aired back in July. I think perhaps the recent article on ADHD was thrown together too quickly.

“Equine-assisted therapy and other equine-assisted services are just becoming wildly popular everywhere,” Rush says.

Just to further clarify our position on the recent piece aired on KTRE/KLTV.

Y'all, I just want to clarify that I am not happy about this article from KTRE. First, at the start of the interview, I stated that my professional credentials are "LPC - Licensed Professional Counselor." I am not a psychologist and I am not a psychiatrist. Second, I never, ever, at any point stated that "medication is the most viable treatment option." I told the interviewer that research clearly states that a "multi-modal approach, including therapy, parent training, and possibly medication" is the best approach. I am going to include a link to the article just because the horses are so dang cute, but please understand that this is NOT a good article about ADHD.

October is ADHD awareness month, and ADHD, or attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, is a neurodevelopmental disorder that, according to the CDC, affects 11% of children in the us, and 6% of adults.

Ginger and Pickles! I never thought I would see the day that Ginger, our bell mare (herd leader), would share her hay with another horse. But for about a week now, she and Pickles have been eating together. We sure love our red mares!

Once again, we would like to thank C&R AutoWerx for taking care of us. "Dolly" is our 2006 F-350. When we go to horse shows, Cora pulls the camper with Dolly while I pull the horse trailer. We knew when we purchased Dolly that she was an older truck, and like older horses, she was going to need to a little TLC and some extra maintenance. Chris, Brad, and the crew at C&R have been there for us every step of the way. When she wouldn't crank yesterday, it was kind of like showing up at the barn first thing in the morning and finding a horse down with an injury or colic. "Well, I guess we'd better clear our schedule, because we're going to the vet today." In this case, it was the truck doctor instead of the horse doctor. If you have a truck that needs doctoring, take it to C&R!

Turn your sound on and up for the full experience! That’s a CH-47 Chinook. I felt the vibration deep in my chest when it flew over this morning. Yesterday, we had three Apache gunships come over. We’re exactly a mile from the county airport, so we have airplanes and corporate jets flying over every day, but the Army helicopters are always a special treat. No wonder our horses are so calm! They get exposed to large, noisy, moving objects every day. I was more excited about this than they were.
