Music therapy is the clinical and evidence-based use of music interventions to address individual goals within a therapeutic relationship.
To become a board-certified music therapist (MT-BC), individuals must earn at least a bachelor’s degree in music therapy, complete over 1200 clinical hours, and pass a national board certification exam.
Music therapists are trained to work in a variety of settings and are skilled in using music to support emotional, physical, social, and cognitive well-being.
Music therapists share many traits with both musicians and other therapeutic professionals, but only MT-BCs blend the art of music and the science of therapy into one meaningful, impactful career.
