Vermont is famous for mud season and it has arrived early to the Greenhouse!! Music therapy keeps going but visitors beware- there was an issue that caused our lot to be torn up and that has created a lot of mud! Please share songs or music you might know around the theme of mud- as we are making the best of it and keeping the music rolling! 🫟

It’s a bit frozen outside of the Greenhouse -but we will be heating things up with music inside!!! Music Connections groups meet today- we will sing, dance, play instruments and share in the warmth of connection and music making together!! 🎶

New year and a new look for the music therapy space at The Greenhouse Building! Music Blooms MT will be more fully sharing with As You Are Studios and Moonshadow Music Therapy! My colleagues Danica and Joanna did a fabulous job warming things up and added some new, more gentle, lighting as well! Here’s to a great year ahead in our collaborative Greenhouse Music Therapy space!

Thanks for positive comments about my story and song yesterday! We made it to our destination!

I hope, if you’ve followed me here, you are aware that music therapy is an evidence based allied health field with credentialed professionals serving individual needs through music (listening, singing, creating, moving). In my work, I have helped create playlists and I’ve written songs with clients to help them in moments of stress like I had yesterday. I’ve helped them move to release stress and also to promote mobility goals. I’ve worked with clients to find words to express feelings either through an existing song or by writing their own. All through a therapeutic process that establishes rapport, builds trust and supports individuals and, many times, their families.

Yesterday, I helped myself but board certified music therapists help their clients every day!
I love my friend Miriam’s idea that I could have got my guitar out on the plane and got everybody singing! My friend, Susan, pointed out that “Love is a Battlefield” was playing in the background of my video - which is pretty funny! The music at the Detroit airport (playing while flights got sorted) was a great mix and I hope it helped my fellow passengers when we got off the plane. Again, here is to the power of music! 🎶

Today are the last sessions and groups for 2025!! I am filled with gratitude for all the connections made, skills supported and music making this year! Here’s to music therapy continuing to grow in the state of Vermont in 2026!!
