Well, I was hoping to share these photos and video from last week and say how fabulous Burton is doing, but he had other plans.

Late last week Burton tore his other cruciate 😩 (his sneaky attempt at leashed parkour did not go well)

While this is a huge bummer and will require another surgery (Monday) I honestly feel that this was good timing.

It is VERY common that when a dog has a cruciate tear/rupture in one leg, they will eventually tear/rupture the other. This means we will have extended kennel rest, but this second, and inevitable, surgery will be out of the way moving forward.

Burton was going to have his 8 week recheck and radiographs this Monday for his left TPLO. So now, he will have that check up AND the same surgery on his right leg. 😅

He has been a trooper throughout his recovery and kennel rest.

We are very sad that we will have to wait a few more weeks to get him in the water this summer. Burton was just starting to feel comfortable and gaining confidence on his left leg. 😔

His stroller should arrive today. 🤭

Equi-ed are running a 4 hour short course looking at tendons and ligaments in the lower limbs. It’s 60 euro and can be done online from anywhere in the world.
It’s important for owners to understand how these structures work and what to look for to detect early problems.

Last week Burton ended up developing an infection associated with his surgical site.

It is so funny how my skill set can go out the window when my own pets are in need of medical attention.
To be 100% honest, when I noticed the swelling and lameness I thought maybe we had been too active and Burton just needed some rest. I also ran out of his NSAID (classic 🤦🏼‍♀️). But when the swelling increased to more than post op and Burton wasn’t as interested in food that’s when I knew he needed immediate attention.
I am so grateful for the wonderful team I have at AMCS (where I work 🐾).
The ER/ICU team got straight to work implementing pain control and utilizing diagnostics to make sure the implants were stable.
Burton is now on two types of antibiotics and back on his NSAID. He improved within 24 hours of his ER visit and is currently doing fantastic!

Thank you to everyone who reached out to check on him! 🥰🐶❤️

Surgery day was a success!!

Little man (aka Burton, Burtoni, Bubba, Bub, Bug, Little B, Burt, Burger, or Toulouse) did fantastic and he had the most amazing surgical and ICU team

He is recovering quite well so far 😁
He is a little over 24 hours post-op and Burton is gently attempting to use his affected limb which is wonderful progress already.
Yesterday and today I utilized massage, cryotherapy, PBMT, passive range of motion, and tPEMF ( )to help decrease pain, decrease edema, and speed healing.

Thank you to everyone who has reached out to check in on him. It means a lot to and myself to know so many folks out there care 🐶❤️

Our temporary new set up. 🤕

This is my dog, Burton. I have raised him from day one, assisting in his mother’s c-section, bottle feeding him and his siblings every few hours (yes, middle of the night feedings), and doing my best to provide him the most loving life possible. (I also have his full brother 🤭)

Last weekend Burton fully ruptured his cranial cruciate ligament in his left stifle (knee). He is scheduled for an orthopedic surgery known as a TPLO (Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy) on Monday.

We have a long road of rest and recovery ahead of us, and just as the weather is getting nicer 😓.

Luckily I have been training in canine rehabilitation for the past few years so I feel ready to take on the challenge. This will be one of my first start to finish canine cases and I’m sure I’ll learn a lot along the way.

I look forward to keeping you all updated on how the process goes! 🐶

Thank you for allowing me to come talk about bodywork and therapeutic exercises! These evenings are a great learning opportunity for me as I develop my presentation style and skills.
Thank you to all of tonight’s participants! You and your horses were fabulous!
Reflecting on the session, I realized there are so many concepts I wished I spent more time on.
Please reach out if you had any specific questions or wanted further explanation on anything we went over tonight. Or if you have any feedback or recommendations for me 😁

Last weekend I was able to participate in a whole horse dissection with hosted at
I’ve been searching for this opportunity for years and I am so glad it presented itself at the place where I started my equine career.
Thank you to everyone who made this possible and attended. Knowledge was gained and shared. Friendships were created and strengthened. Horses were celebrated and pondered. ❤️🐴
