One thing that I’ve been seeing a lot of lately and have really been drawn to is tees that seem to have twisted as they grew. This one was in a park, but seeing them on trails and other locales is really neat.

I really love the way the water from this spring trickled down, splashed on a nearby branch, and dripped down into a wall of ice as more splashed on it. Absolutely marvelous, one of my favorite places.

Was visiting a local park with my daughter this weekend and managed to find a Bald Cypress! It’s in a somewhat strange spot as they are often near lakes or other swampy areas, but it’s good to know it’s there if I want to see one. Can’t wait to come back in a few months and see it with green, but it’s also great to see it dormant too.

Took a trip to the Starr’s Cave Nature Center today. So quiet and peaceful.

Nothing beats the calm and quiet outside on a holiday - you get less noise pollution from nearby cars and you can really hear the birds, sounds of water and wind, and the crunch of the leaves or snow beneath your feet.

Take time to, safely, visit some of your favorite spots in the snow. It’s worth the trip; trees in winter still have plenty to offer you. They know it’s time to rest and it’s good for you to do the same as we prepare for a busy couple of weeks in addition to a whole new year ahead of us.

Bundle up though and get a warm drink after for sure. ❄️🌲🌿🌨️

Today as I walked and observed I noted this tree with fuzzy buds starting to grow. Do you know what it is?

If you guessed the early stages of a White Star Magnolia, you’re right!

Magnolias often symbolize purity and serenity, and their potent scent is often enough to encourage relaxation. These buds are small and serve as a reminder that good things are coming soon even if winter is cold and harsh.
