I love the imagery of this quote!

Margaret McMillan was an early education pioneer in England at the beginning of the 20th century, "...campaigning for better health and education for the underprivileged children of England’s working class...

McMillan invented the term nursery school so that children would be nurtured via a daily inspection, outdoor learning, play, and healthy, balanced nutrition." (naeyc.org)

Her thoughts on the role of nature in education still resonate strongly today.

When you say "Go out and play", you don't necessarily mean, "Go out and improve your cognitive development"... But that's what they'll be doing!

The side effects of nature play are welcome and beneficial:
- improved awareness
- improved reasoning
- improved observational skills.

Let's get the kids outside!
