Minutes matter in the morning
If you work in a high-responsibility profession, the first 15 minutes after you wake up sets the tone for your entire day. Why? Because your nervous system is shifting from sleep mode to performance mode.
Instead of reaching for your phone or rushing straight into the day, try protecting those first few minutes.
A simple structure:
1. Drink a full glass of water (before caffeine) to rehydrate and wake the body and mind.
2. Open the blinds or step into natural light. Light helps regulate cortisol and wakefulness.
3. Take a few slow breaths and think about the day ahead and your priorities.
That’s it. No elaborate routine. Just a few intentional minutes to stabilize your energy and focus.
When your work requires clear thinking, decisiveness, and emotional bandwidth, the way you start your morning matters more than you think.
Which of the habits above could you add to your first 15 minutes tomorrow?
