I will be spending the summer with my horses and dogs working in a cow camp in the Pioneers until October. (Eric too 😊)
I will still be able to come out for appointments several times a month, and am spending much of my “offline” time reading the many books i have accumulated in my massage/bodywork library. I still find the equine body, nervous system, and spirit endlessly fascinating.
Our internet is very limited so please allow for 1-2 days for me to get back to you if you reach out for an appt.
I will be at Kissock’s in Butte the first week in August to coincide with Sid Erickson’s appointments.

Girthiness: What Else Could Be Going On?

If your horse pins their ears, swishes their tail, or bites when you tighten the girth, it might be more than just a behavioral quirk—and it’s not really something to ignore.

Girthy behavior often points to something deeper going on physically.

It could be caused by:
• Tightness in the pectoral or girth muscles
• Restrictions through the shoulders or sternum
• Abdominal tension or old injuries
• A saddle that puts pressure in the wrong places

These aren’t personality problems.
They’re physical ones—and bodywork can help.

As an equine bodyworker, I look for the patterns beneath the behavior. I use hands-on techniques to release all that stored tension, restore healthy movement, and overall help your horse feel better in their body.

A horse who feels good moves better, performs more willingly, and becomes easier to train and trust.

Hello Boulder, Dillon, & Butte friends!

🌼 I have an evening appointment available in Boulder today, May 7th anytime after 5pm.

🌸 I will be working in the Dillon area massaging horses on Thursday, May 8th and have an afternoon slot or 2 available.

🌻 Friday I’m in Butte at Kissock’s Horse Center all day and have 1 evening slot available.

🌷 Wednesday, May 14th I will be in the Wise River, Anaconda area and have the morning open and one evening slot after 5pm available.

My work focuses on hands-on soft tissue manipulation—addressing the muscles, fascia, tendons, and ligaments—to help your horse release tension, ease tightness, and unwind any negative compensation patterns they may have developed over time. Whether the cause is injury, imbalance, or daily wear and tear, the goal is always the same: to restore comfort, freedom of movement, and overall well-being.

I’m currently running a buy one, get one session for all new clients until May 20th.

Why I Do This Work

I didn’t step into this work to pamper 🛀 horses, although that’s wonderful in its own right.
I chose it because I’ve seen too many horses labeled as “difficult” when what they really just needed was some help.
They were sold or passed along and the next owner started investigating.. asking why. Why are they acting like that? Many of these stories had good outcomes because someone decided to dig a little deeper. Sometimes it was training related. Sometimes it wasn’t.

Cold-backed.
Hard to catch. 🐎
Cinchy.
Doesn’t want to work. (Lazy)
You’ve probably heard those labels before—maybe even said them yourself. But often, those behaviors are signs of discomfort, not defiance. 🚫

Horses are incredibly good at compensating. They’ll shift, brace, or adjust until something gives. My job is to notice those patterns, 📋 release the tension beneath them, and help the body reset and rebalance.

That’s what led me to complete a 500-hour certification in equine massage and bodywork through the School of Applied Integrative Therapy in Devils Tower, WY.
My training included in-depth anatomy, biomechanics, and techniques 💆‍♀️ for soft tissue release and neuromuscular balance—all rooted in understanding how horses move, feel, and adapt.

This work is grounded in science, guided by feel, and focused on real results.
When a horse 🐴 starts to move freely, breathe easier, or finally relax—that’s not luck. That’s the body letting go of what it’s been holding.

If your horse is asking for help, or just seems “off,” I’m here to help you investigate. I am happy to refer out to other professionals should we need to, but getting hands on them is a great first step to see if there might be something more going on. Often it’s just tension patterns on tension patterns on tension patterns.

I am also happy to give them a full work over after the busy spring workload of calving & branding, or as prep for the fast paced summer rodeo season ahead.

What Is Equine Bodywork (and Does My Horse Need It?)

Equine bodywork is more than just a massage—it’s a way to reset your horse’s body and bring it back into balance.

And no, it’s not just for “spa days” or horses in rehab, although it sure can be if your horse is due for a treat!

There’s a common myth that bodywork is a luxury—something reserved for injured horses or high-level performance animals. But the truth is, every horse benefits from massage and bodywork, whether they’re hauling to rodeos, working cattle, heading down the trail, or simply standing in the pasture.

Why? Because horses are masters of compensation.
They adjust quietly when something hurts—shifting their weight, bracing through the back, tightening in the shoulders, or shortening their stride. These patterns build over time and can lead to deeper dysfunction if left unaddressed.

That’s where bodywork comes in.

Using massage, myofascial release, red light therapy, and other hands-on techniques, I help release restrictions, improve range of motion, and guide the nervous system back to a state of balance and ease.

This work is both science-based and intuition-led. Every session is built on a foundation of in-depth anatomical training—and a commitment to meeting each horse exactly where they are.

Because when your horse moves better, they feel better.
And when they feel better, they are better—more comfortable, more expressive, more willing, and more connected to you.
