Kim brings clinical and personal experience in a wide variety of spheres including parenting (she’s a mom of 5!), divorce, blended families, abuse, spirituality, and religious trauma.

A new group offering this fall -

Disorientation, confusion, devastation, and deep grief are common experiences women face when p**n, affairs, addictions, lying, and other forms of betrayal are discovered or disclosed. Led by myself and Haley Joseph, artist and betrayal trauma survivor, this group will combine traditional group therapeutic techniques and art as an expression of pain AND the beauty that is possible as we heal in community with others. Registration is open for the next Confessional Community group therapy cohort!

🍃 This will be a 12-week group beginning June 4
🍃 The group will meet weekly on Wednesdays from 11:30am-1pm at The Dwelling Place office
🍃 Cost: $90/session

I’m very excited to run a summer group for the first time! I’ve heard from several teachers that have wanted to participate in group but haven’t been able to due to the timing. So, if you’re a teacher looking for some self-care, healing, connection, and growth, this is for you!

I’m just back from DC kicking off the first ever Confessional Community Group Therapy training program for clinicians. It has been an absolute joy to work alongside this crew to make it happen! My heart and soul believe in this model!

Sitting in the quiet between sessions, I found myself present with the falling snow and God’s grace - smack dab in the path of oncoming beauty.

Confessional community is a 12 week group therapy option for anyone interested in eradicating shame, becoming their truest self, and finding healing at the intersection of spiritual formation and interpersonal neurobiology.

I have had the opportunity over the past two years to train with and work for Dr. Curt Thompson and the team in Washington DC. My work with them has been in leading Confessional Communities in the therapeutic setting, most recently leading an intensive in DC as part of their practice.

Confessional Communities are group therapy and I find this type of therapeutic work advantageous to individual therapy for most people. What makes these groups different from others is they are not support groups and they are not topical groups (say, for depression), they are process groups which focus on the principles of interpersonal neurobiology and Christian spiritual formation. In these groups you will find healing as you learn to tell your story more truly and learn to be fully seen and known in community. I plan to offer the first group beginning in January and here are the details:

Time: 12 week group meeting on Monday evenings beginning January 29th from 7-9pm
Cost: $900 ($75/session, a savings of $45/session compared to individual work)
Location: The Dwelling Place office in Byron Center
