All the things.
When I head out to the trails to enjoy multiple acrivities; snowshoe and fat bike, it takes a little more prep time, but, so worth the effort to ensure an enjoyable time.
Today’s gear list:
Snowshoe Tubbs
Fat Bike Specialized: 5” studded tires. Yeah!
45 North Bike boots. Yup. Warm!
Merrells Winter Boots
Darn tough wool long socks
Bottom Layers are wool tights, and Mountain Hard Wear polar fleece pants. Damn these pants are toasty and light!
Top layers in two categories
1. Snowshoe; short sleeve wool base, long sleeve mid with nice high neck to pull up over my face if needed, Black Diamond Alpine Jacket, beanie hat, gloves
2. Fat bike same bottom layers. Change out top layers; 250 merino wool base layer, Surley wool mid layer full zip, windbreaker jacket, split lobster gloves, Smith Mirage winter helmet and Goodr goggles. My bike is equipped with 45 North pogies for added protection when the temps plummet into the 20’s and colder.
When the temps drop into the 20’s, I’ll wear my camelback under my jacket, or mid layer, to prevent it from freezing. Keeping the tube tucked, and blow back after each drink.
The key: layers and imo wool
Now, load up, and head out to enjoy a few hours outside!!
**edited to note: got to the trail and realized I forgot my fricking snowshoe gaiters🙄
