Together we can enhance The Meeting Place Carbondale 's outdoor space by:
✨ Installing a new bike rack
✨ Adding benches to create a welcoming outdoor space to connect
✨ Pitching in for a general clean-up

Thank you to everyone who joined us and Reconnected Foundation for an exciting afternoon float on the Colorado River, guided by the amazing team at Blazing Adventures.

It was wonderful to connect with everyone on the trip for a shared experience of laughter, reflection, and reconnection—with nature, with community, and with ourselves. The Current of Connection wasn’t just a name: it truly captured the flow of the day 🌊

Symposium Speaker Spotlight: Dr. Nick Kardaras

We’re honored to welcome Dr. Nick Kardaras –Ivy-League educated psychologist, best-selling author and leading expert in mental health, addiction, and the effects of the digital age–as a featured speaker at our 10th Annual Addiction Breakfast Symposium.

In his talk ‘Tech Addiction: Treatment and Clinical/Mental Health Implications’, Dr. Kardaras will take a deep dive into the clinical, social, psychological, developmental, and neurological impact of smart phones, social media, and gaming on kids, teens, and young adults–and what we can do to minimize the impact of these devices on mental and emotional health.

This presentation is essential for families, professionals in the recovery space, and anyone who works with youth.

Meet our Clinical Director: Kim!

Kim is a licensed Addiction Counselor and licensed Professional Counselor of 12 years and has supported AWO clients for the past 8 years in her role as Clinical Director. Kim is dedicated to supporting AWO clients with care and compassion. She is passionate about helping clients heal from past trauma and navigate and overcome the challenges of substance use disorder. Her calm, open demeanor makes her easy to talk to, and she offers counsel with empathy and understanding.

Outside of work, Kim enjoys hiking with her dog and rock climbing in the Carbondale area, where she has been a resident for the past 21 years!

We’re so lucky to have Kim on our team–and so are our clients 🌻
