Less questions, more comments! Rephrasing your questions as comments is a simple and effective way to encourage more communicative responses from your child. Follow your child's lead and comment on what they see, what they are doing, or what they are interested in.

We love using sensory play as a fun and engaging way for children to learn language while exploring the environment! Some sensory favorites include water beads, bubbles, shaving cream, kinetic sand, finger paint, play-doh, and dry rice.

Recasting is one of our favorite evidence-based strategies for helping children learn to use correct speech and language. Recasting can be used by any adults- parents, teachers, caregivers, etc. during any conversational interactions with a child- at home, at school, at the park, or even in the car!

Does your child seem uninterested in books? Now is the perfect time to read! Choose a time when they're already engaged in an activity that they enjoy (e.g., eating snack, playing cars, or building blocks).

Point to pictures, provide short comments, reduce expectations, and have fun!
