Love Yourself, Fully & Fiercely ❤️

Loving yourself isn’t just a feeling—it’s a practice. It’s the way you show up for yourself every single day, especially when life throws challenges your way. As a Type 1 Diabetic (T1D), self-love is more than just positive affirmations—it’s the choices, boundaries, and grace you give yourself daily.

✨ Ways to Love Yourself as a T1D:
💉 Taking your insulin without guilt or hesitation—because your body deserves care.
🥑 Nourishing your body with foods that make you feel good, not just what others think is “healthy.”
🩸 Checking your blood sugar even when you don’t feel like it—because knowledge is power.
😴 Prioritizing rest, because your body works hard for you every day.
💙 Forgiving yourself for the highs, the lows, and the days that feel like too much.

Self-love isn’t about perfection—it’s about honoring your body, your journey, and your resilience. You are worthy of care, rest, and joy. Keep showing up for yourself. 💙

Understanding Bloating:

Your colon is like a bustling town square, where various bacteria, yeasts, and fungi break down undigested food items, mainly carbohydrates.

During this fermentation process, carbs can produce gas in the form of hydrogen or methane, leading to that uncomfortable bloated feeling.

If you're lactose intolerant and can't digest lactose, you might be more prone to these bouts.

Raffinose, found in beans, and certain foods like spicy, fried, or fatty foods, broccoli, cabbage, onions, dried fruits, and those containing sorbitol, mannitol, or maltitol (often in low-carb or sugar-free foods), apple and prune juice, and carbonated beverages can also trigger bloating.

Specific food intolerances can also contribute to bloating and gas.

Not only what you eat matters, but also how you eat. Talking while eating or eating when stressed can lead to bloating.

Chewing gum, smoking, chewing to***co, and certain medications (like those for cold symptoms) are also common triggers.

So, what's the solution?

Nutrition Tips for Bloating:

Identify your triggers. Healthy foods like beans, high in fiber, shouldn't be avoided forever. Gradually increase your tolerance to these carbs by starting with a small portion and slowly increasing every few days.

Natural Remedies for Bloating:

Nature offers many remedies for bloating.

- Fennel: Anti-inflammatory and eases digestion. Try chewing on fennel seeds after meals.
- Peppermint: Calms cramping and bloating caused by gas or mast cells.
- Chamomile: Relieves digestive issues and fights off stomach bugs.
- Licorice: Alleviates gut inflammation and relaxes digestive muscles.
- Ginger: Aids digestion and fights gas and bloating.
- Lemon Balm: Calms the stomach and eases stress-related bloating.
- Caraway: Relaxes intestinal muscles, relieving gas and bloating.
- Probiotics: Maintain healthy gut bacteria balance, reducing gas.
- Digestive enzymes: Ensure proper food digestion, preventing gas build-up.

Incorporating these natural remedies and adjusting your diet can help manage and reduce bloating for a more comfortable digestive experience.

My newest favorite breakfast to make: scrambled egg in sourdough bread, arugula, melted goat cheese topped with avocado and sprinkled with truffle salt.
This time my cousin, Tom from Indiana got to try it.
Truly delicious.

Ah when there is a change in weather go and enjoy it.
When there is a change in your cgm - be curious and explore it. Take notice and make changes.
It’s all about observation - with no attachment.
That’s what I’m working on.
But in the mean time I’m enjoying the sun rays.
What can you enjoy today, observe today and make changes about?
Let me know.
