Nearsightedness or myopia is a common visual condition where nearby objects appear clear while distance objects look blurry. It's a condition that affects many people, and the level of nearsightedness can limit some treatment options. EVO ICL is a vision correction procedure that can help those who are nearsighted with moderate to severe myopia (-3D to -20D).

Plus, EVO ICL is:
👁️Biocompatible
👁️An additive procedure that doesn't require removing corneal tissue or removing the natural lens
👁️Quick and safe, usually completed in 20-30 minutes
👁️Removable by a doctor, providing you with both flexibility and peace of mind

Give us a call at 770.834.1008 to schedule an appointment to ‘learn more’ about EVO ICL!

Is Eye Health in Your Genes?

💡Let’s Talk About Hereditary Eye Conditions!

Did you know that some eye conditions can run in families?
Here are a few examples of common hereditary eye conditions:

🔹 Myopia (Nearsightedness)/ Hyperopia (Farsightedness): If mom or dad wore glasses, there's a good chance the kids might, too.
🔹 Glaucoma: Often has no early symptoms, but a family history can significantly increase your risk.
🔹 Macular Degeneration: Especially the age-related form — it can be passed down through generations.
🔹 Cataracts: The most common form of cataracts are a normal part of aging and occur in older adults. Cataracts can be linked to family history especially congenital cataracts!

🧬 Getting regular eye exams and knowing your family history is key to catching eye problems early and protecting your vision!

☀️🕶️ Protect Your Eyes from the Summer Sun! 🌞👁️
July is UV Safety Month, and the American Academy of Ophthalmology is reminding everyone just how important it is to shield your eyes from the sun’s harmful rays.

Just like your skin, your eyes can be damaged by UV exposure — which can increase the risk of cataracts, eye growths, macular degeneration, and even eye cancer over time. Per the AAO, UV rays reflected off sand and water can cause eyes to sunburn, potentially resulting in temporary blindness in just a few hours.

✅ Protect your vision with these tips:

👓 Wear sunglasses that block 100% of UVA and UVB rays
👒 Add a wide-brimmed hat for extra protection
🚫 Avoid direct sun exposure during peak hours when possible

At Georgia Vision Institute, we care about your long-term eye health — so wear those sunglasses, hats and sunscreen and enjoy the summer days ahead!

👀 Eye Tip of the Week: The 20-20-20 Rule!

If you spend a lot of time on screens, give your eyes a break & try this:

💻 Every 20 minutes,
👀 Look 20 feet away,
⏱️ For at least 20 seconds.

-This can help to prevent digital eye strain by providing regular breaks for your eyes while working on digital devices.
Your eyes will thank you later!😎
