Happy Gratitude & Happy Giving this holiday season!
As I sit pondering over the last of couple years, I realize I am truly blessed and grateful for so many things. As I mentally begin down the list of things I'm grateful for, it strikes me that most of the things on my list are people/things/situations and how they relate to me.
"I'm grateful for having a job I love." "I'm grateful for my family." "I'm grateful for having food on my table." And then almost as a forgotten gratitude, "I'm grateful for my health."
Isn't it interesting that I automatically looked to my external environment before looking inwards at things to be grateful for?
But I'm not alone in this manner of listing our gratitudes.
The Ultimate Gratitude List for 2021 listed health as #7 on a 263 item list. The Complete Gratitude List for 2021 listed health as #5 out of 300.
Not bad most would say. I say it shows how we approach life and our health.
Others before self.
But I'm left wondering, why do we under-value our health and wellbeing?
I hear people's reasons all the time. It all falls into 3 categories: doubt, fear, and financial.
Unfortunately, but fortunately, one of the biggest lessons over the last 2 years has been about health. Health of all kinds: physical, mental, spiritual, emotional, financial.
As a medical provider and a coach, it is my job to help my clients prioritize their health and work towards it.
But getting people to reprioritize their health, and understand how daily health actually plays into less pain is difficult.
Especially when we, as humans, seem programmed to look external first.
For instance, if you tell me that paying for a health program is too expensive; I'd have to ask you, as compared to what? Illness and immobility?
Yet, if a struggling family member is in our same situation, most people would encourage and help support that person's journey. Including investing in the same health program they felt was too expensive for themselves!
So I'd have to ask, "why is your own wellbeing not as worthy as someone else's?"
We know that fear plays a role in people's health. Think about how fear of pain, fear of movement, fear of any other number of things often holds us back from even committing to try for our health.
As for doubt, most often, we already know exactly what our soul wants most. But when it’s time to take the leap, we get stuck in self-doubt. So instead of heading towards our goals, we run in the opposite direction. Away from our hopes. Our dreams. Our wishes. And our purpose.
Thankfully, as a coach, I know that it is possible to make yourself and your health a priority. I know there is a way to empower and guide you to less pain, a stronger back, and a happier life! And I have a proven plan to help get you there.
So let's talk turkey! If the barrier is financial, then let's break that!
