Tues July 12, 2022 Georgia Stone Products in writing withdrew their rezoning application. The people of Adairsville WON! There is an off chance they reapply in 6 months but it makes no sense to. You can't change the fact that they are a quarry and there is no compromise. The county and the city have made their position clear now twice, that they do not want another quarry for Adairsville. Thanks to everyone that came out and supported Adairsville.

As of June 10, 2022 Georgia Stone Products has officially reapplied to be on the July 11th Planning Commission agenda at 6pm and Steve Taylors agenda on July 13th at 10am at the Bartow County Courthouse. Mark your calendars to attend. Check out our website for all the latest news we have. Do not be swayed by the quarry's latest PR campaign acting like they will be such a great neighbor. They've done a complete 180 and changed all their stats from their original attempt at rezoning. We can't trust a word that comes out of their mouths. They purchased the easement on 140 deceitfully and they continue to say and do whatever they can to make this happen. We do NOT need to have 2 quarries in Adairsville. It will destroy our towns character.

On May 6, 2022 Georgia Stone Products reached out to Bartow County and let them know they intended to reapply for their mining rezoning and most likely would be on the July 11 at 6pm agenda. The Commissioner hearing would follow on July 13 at 10am. No doubt they probably postponed reapplying hoping everyone would be on summer vacation and would not attend this meeting. I've already canceled my trip to the beach because nothing is more important to me than defeating this group once and for all. Everyone please put this on your calendars and consider planning around these dates. We need another packed house.

I talked to Richard Osborne at Bartow County and he said a representative from the quarry reached out to him and they do plan to reapply for the June meeting. I will keep you posted when I see their application this time and let you know if there are any changes.

Nearly 6 months ago Georgia Stone Products withdrew their application to open a quarry on Hwy 140 after the planning commission voted against the project. After 6 months, April 7, they can reapply to the planning commission again. It's the same process as before. If they reapply on Apr 7 or 8 they will go in front of the planning commission on May 2, 2022 followed by a hearing with Commissioner Taylor on May 4, 2022.

We have every reason to believe they will reapply. We will be ready for them again.
