I’m so proud of my granddaughter Savannah! She is playing AAU gymnastics. She and her team of 8th graders went to the west side to play in a tournament and she did great. She has gained so many skills and so much confidence!! I LOVE SPORTS😀.

Savannah you have inspired me.

Sooooo. This was last April. About 6 weeks before my heart surgery. Goes to show you how the best laid plans can so not happen. At the time.

It’s now December and I’m almost through months of cardiac rehab. And. Feeling. Great.

God knows how to make it happen.

I have had a revelation. CONSISTANCY is THE MOSt IMPORTANT FACTOR in changing and improving your life.

For the past few months I have been rehabbing. AGAIN. It seems like that is a part of my life a lot of the time. Right now it’s getting back in shape from heart valve replacement surgery. I was allotted 36 sessions of cardiac rehab at the same hospital where I had my surgery. The sessions are offered Monday, Wednesday and Friday. I go from 1-2:15. I work out on three machines: a treadmill, a sitting elliptical and a standing elliptical.

It’s been 5 months since the surgery. I started the rehab after about 2 months. At first I wasn’t really into it. Thought it was SO BORING! Soooooo. I wasn’t very consistent about going. It was HARD. And it stayed hard because I wasn’t working hard at it consistently.

But then an amazing thing happened. I started talking to the other rehabbers. They had great stories and were fun to talk to. And the time FLEW BY! And it GOT EASIER! And I FELT BETTER and STRONGER. Soooooo. I started being more consistent about going to rehab. Today I noticed it doesn’t hurt to stand up for a longer period of time. I catch my breath faster after I work out. I have more energy.

BE CONSISTANT. IT WORKS.

SMALL STEPS make a BIG DIFFERANCE.

I have been attending a Cardiac Rehab class several times a week to get stronger since my heart valve replacement. The program offers 36 one-hour sessions of monitored exercise on 3 different machines. You will get all 36 sessions no matter how many times a week you show up. I have not been super consistent at showing up every time so far.

So today was my 18th session. I’m halfway there. At this point they test you to see how fast and how far you can walk in 6 minutes. We had this same test before we started the program. Even though I have NOT been as consistent in my attendance as I’d like I still improved my speed and distance by A LOT. I realized that if my consistency had been better I would have improved even more.

But I’m happy with my progress and I own this result. Progress is progress and I’m actually beginning to look forward to going. Small Steps. I’m becoming a believer.

Hopefully this is better!
