❄️ Cold Weather Safety Reminder ❄️
Friends and neighbors — with temperatures dropping into the single digits and icy conditions sticking around, we want to gently remind everyone, especially our seniors, to take a few extra precautions to stay safe.
Cold weather can impact older adults more quickly than expected. Please be mindful of the following:
✅ Limit time outdoors if possible. Even short exposure in extreme cold can lead to hypothermia or frostbite.
✅ Dress in layers — including hats, gloves, scarves, and warm footwear with good traction.
✅ Watch for ice on sidewalks, driveways, steps, and parking lots. One slip can cause a serious injury.
✅ Use caution with space heaters and heating devices—keep them safely away from blankets, furniture, and curtains.
✅ Check your home heating to be sure it’s working properly and that vents are clear.
✅ Stay connected — don’t hesitate to ask a family member, neighbor, or friend for help with groceries, medications, or errands.
✅ Look in on others — a quick phone call or check-in on an elderly neighbor can make a big difference.
If you’re feeling unsure about going out, it’s okay to stay in until conditions improve. Your safety comes first.
Let’s continue caring for one another and staying warm together. 💙
If you or someone you love needs support during this cold weather, we’re always here to help.
