Randy was doing amazing up until he finally caught covid a little over a month ago, we thought okay we've jumped this hurdle and no major complications from that. Then back to school he goes. The kids and I were all joking about getting a call from school yesterday because randy wanted to bring a rubber chicken to school and me getting a call and him getting into trouble the last week of school.... needless to say I got a call from the school yesterday but it was never what I expected. Thankfully randy was found by a wonderful staff member on the ground in the hallway and at first they thought low blood sugar, well that was fine. Instead it was a low blood pressure, first time ever which read both by the school nurse and ems 70/27. Yes I said that's right! Hoping it was a freak accident because nothing off was found on the ekg or labs which is absolutely amazing.Granted the ekg from the ems personnel read a little off. But nothing from the hospital. But we did add another specialist to his list unfortunately which is a cardiologist. Not to mention he already sees a transplant surgeon for follow ups, gastrointestinal doctor, endocrinologist, regular pcm and etc. Now a cardiologist.. Hopefully they rule out it was just a freak accident. I was thankful thou for the staff at LISD, Williamson county ems and Dell children's for their quick actions for my son. Never again do I want to receive a call like that thou or see any of my children in that condition. I'm so done with anything more medical and I'm pretty sure randy is as well. Today he's doing much better then the medical emergency scare 😱 we got yesterday. Thankfully he also went home yesterday as well.

Randy was on Creon way before his TPAIT surgery. This is one medication that he will be on for the rest of his life. It’s life saving. Children and adults are put on this medication for help with digestive enzymes. Yes, your pancreas does aide in digestion.

Staying at the Ronald McDonald House and Randys team of doctors was such a blessing. This was the day before Randy traded in his pain for a new life. Total Pancreadectomy with auto islet transplant. Randy was diagnosed with chronic pancreatitis due to having the spink1 and cftr gene mutations. These wrecked havoc on Randys pancreas since the age of two years old. When he was three and exactly on his third birthday he had his gallbladder removed at Baylor Scott and white in Temple and of course his TPAIT in Dallas which both times at the time he was the youngest patient at those particular hospitals to have it done. Of course children now are having these surgeries at a much younger age. Dallas has since then moved there TPAIT surgery with adolescents to a older age than what Randys was done. There are options to have the surgery in Cincinnati, Ohio for much younger children. Isn’t the advancement of medical technology wonderful?
