Autism Awakening is the Bridge from the world of Education to the world we call life for students of all levels with Autism!!!!

According to Spectrum Weekly, people diagnosed with so-called mild forms of autism don’t fare any better in life than those with severe forms of the disorder. That’s the conclusion of a new study that suggests that even individuals with normal intelligence and language abilities struggle to fit into society because of their social and communication problems. The adult with autism who has stronger intellectual capability may not fare much better than one with developmental delays. Impairment in his social skills may mask his talents in the workplace, making him vulnerable to job loss and lack of advancement. He may be excluded from the better-paying jobs that offer health insurance, paid vacation, and other employee benefits, though he is qualified or even overqualified in terms of job skills. A lack of employment opportunities can significantly hinder his ability to achieve her potential in adulthood.

We are Launching our Education Foundation 2017.... Our Education Foundations Mission is to support and enhance education for students with Autism at Autism Awakening Schools. The foundation will solicit, manage, and distribute funds that are funded by private donors, fundraisers, federal grants, and private grants. The foundation will identify and secure financial resources, develop partnerships with corporate, government, business and community and support mission of Autism Awakening, LLC Schools.

Critical News: We have some critical news to share that will impact hundreds of thousands of Texans on December 15th!
Last month, the Texas State Supreme Court cut $350 million towards outpatient speech, occupational and physically therapy. This budget cut will force many private practitioners serving the Autism population to close or reduce the number of staff and clients. Furthermore, the Texas Public School system is placing a 7.5% cap on students who would qualify for special education services. This reduction will further impact the Autism community.

In order to provide a high-quality learning environment for the Autism community, Autism Awakening opened the Hector E. Ponce Academy, for students grades 7th -12th in Cedar Park, Texas in 2016. Our school provides the learning environment for students with Autism, therapy services of more than 15 hours per week, and a bridge for students to transition to society prepared. Our initiative is open 3 additional schools in the Austin Area that serves K-12 students and adults with Autism.

The Ponce Academy has a rating and grading system that provides objective data of student progress and their level of independence as well as a program that will train them in the areas of technology, music, and art. We also have a transition to work and/or college studies that has been approved by the Texas Workforce Commission. We will begin transitioning and training some of our students in the year to come as they get closer to completing their studies.

Since 1952 our professional community has failed to provide an appropriate education and services to the Autism community.  Autism Awakening affiliate schools have become the bridge for Autism Students to receive an appropriate education and transition into society prepared.  A real world education....
