Happy National Cytotechnology Day to our outstanding Cytology team! This day is celebrated each year on Dr. George Papanicolaou's birthday (the inventor of the Pap smear) and recognizes cytologists' contributions to women's health. The Pap smear is one of the most successful screening tools to detect cervical cancer and precancerous cells. Since the adoption of the Pap smear for routine screening, cervical cancer deaths have dropped more than 70% in the United States.

Southwest Lab on Edgewood Parkway
Northeast Lab at Czech Square
Marion Lab.

The Main Lab on 1st Ave SE will remain open during this time.

This week is Medical Laboratory Professionals Week, where we take a moment to recognize the incredible work of our laboratorians! Our phlebotomists, medical laboratory technicians, medical laboratory scientists, histologists, cytologists, medical lab assistants, pathologist's assistants, pathologists, couriers, and office and administrative staff work together every day to provide accurate and timely testing for patients and clients in the region. Thank you to our team for their hard work today and every day!

Weland Clinical Laboratories, P.C. recently completed its biennial accreditation inspection by the College of American Pathologists (CAP) and has been successfully reaccredited through 2027!

During the CAP accreditation process, designed to ensure the highest standard of care for all laboratory patients, inspectors examine the laboratory’s records and quality control of procedures. CAP inspectors also examine laboratory staff qualifications, equipment, facilities, safety program and record, and overall management. These reviews help verify activities and reflect the most recent best practices.
