Family Caregivers Center of Mercy

Eastern Iowa’s only comprehensive resource for family caregivers serving caregivers in need, regardless of their hospital or physician affiliation.

The Family Caregivers Center of Mercy provides services and financial need-based aid to caregivers regardless of the identity of a caregiver's or care receiver 's health care provider or insurance status. No purchase or use of items or services from Mercy is necessary to receive services and financial need-based aid provided by the Family Caregivers Center.

Due to the forecasted temperatures and Cedar Rapids Schools closures, the DeWolf Innovation Center will be closed tomorrow, Jan 23, 2026. This will include the cancellation of scheduled groups. The Memory Center will be open for limited appointments. Please stay safe and warm.

The DeWolf Innovation Center, including the Family Caregivers Center, Community Connections and the Center for Memory Health will be closing today at 3 PM and will be closed tomorrow in observance of the holiday. The staff wishes everyone a Happy New Year and we will see you next year!

The DeWolf Innovation Center will be closed today, December 24-26 in observance of the holiday. This includes the Center for Memory Health, Connections Community and the Family Caregivers Center. Our staff wishes everyone a safe and happy holiday.

This week our team member Becky posted on the online community about Navigating the Holidays.
“It’s hard to believe that the time of year has rolled around again to be talking about the upcoming holidays. I shared last year, near Christmas, how difficult the holidays can be for me, specifically related to grief and loss.
I am happy to discuss that again but wanted to extend an invitation for caregivers to discuss how they have made adjustments related to caregiving for the holidays. For instance, have you planned smaller gatherings? Or no gatherings? Have you decided to change the menu? Not cool? Go to a restaurant for a holiday meal? Have you changed traditions? I am curious about any adaptations you have made and any tips you might be able to offer other caregivers. There are no wrong answers, we all have to adjust (sometimes daily) to meet our needs and the needs of our care partners.
