I passionate about helping kids and teens gain freedom and empowerment through the therapeutic process. As a Certified Trauma Practitioner, I see the value of creating a therapeutic environment where clients feel safe to engage in the healing process. I love working with youth because they have the opportunity to begin developing healthy relationships, thinking patterns, and boundaries at a young age. I first began working with children and teens in 2006 at a place called Lost Valley Ranch. After years of working with youth, I decided to end my time as a Teen Program Director to pursue my master’s degree in mental health. In 2013, I received my master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health from Denver Seminary, a CACREP accredited school. I served on the Colorado Association for Play Therapy board from 2012-2015. I am an Advanced Certified Trauma Practitioner certified through The National Institute for Trauma and Loss in Children. I specialize in treating children and teens. Treatment specialties include: trauma, anxiety, depression, abuse and neglect, eating disorders, shame, bullying, and behavioral issues. While I believe in integrating several methods and theories of counseling and catering to the clients’ needs, I have a bent towards cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, psychodynamic therapy, sensory based trauma interventions, and both directive and non-directive play therapy. In addition to my time at CACCDenver, I also work as an on call therapist for the Eating Disorder Center of Denver and I am family therapist at The University of Colorado. I am a Christian and will gladly integrate faith into counseling upon request, however, I respect a client’s decision not to integrate faith.
