Feeding isn't just about hunger. It’s about safety, regulation, connection, and skill.

Feeding is a neurodevelopmental process: involving the brain, the nervous system, sensory processing, coordination, skill development, nutrition, emotion regulation, and connection.

When a child experiences “feeding challenges”, it's not about "picky eating" or "bad habits."

It's often about how their brain and body are wired to experience the world, especially if medical concerns go undiagnosed and feeding skills are delayed.

Supporting feeding challenges means supporting the whole child, their brain, body, and being.

This sweet kiddo fell ASLEEP during our CST session.

We were working on social engagement and using his AAC communication device and I could tell he was having a difficult time regulating and engaging today.
So we took the session outside and I started to work on him with some craniosacral techniques.
About 10 minutes in I heard SNORING.

CST is definitely something I’ve been adding to my practice over time as a I learn and the results have been AMAZING.

Getting these little bodies and nervous systems regulated allows them to be in the right place to LEARN.

So excited to September!!

It’s a SENSORY PLAY kind of day!!

Using sensory play during sessions has such amazing benefits no matter what skills we’re working on!

This sweet girl has been working towards more range of motion and activation with her lips and cheeks as well as using consonants at the end of her words.

This takes ALOT of focus for a preschooler!

Starting with and/or having sensory play breaks helps keep kiddos motivated and REGULATED so they can learn.

Regulation comes before learning ☝🏽☝🏽

Muffin tins for feeding therapy!!

I absolutely love using these with kiddos who are hesitant to try new foods.

5 reasons I LOVE muffin tins for hesitant eaters

1. It allows you to provide more options so preferred and non preferred foods can all be there

2. Keeps the food from touching which can be difficult for kids struggling to explore food

3. Allows for SMALL AMOUNTS of food to be presented. Sometimes too much of a new thing can be overwhelming for hesitant eaters

4. Super easy for kids to help make their plate!

5. They are kind of fun! 😆

If your kiddo is having difficulty with trying new foods or is eating less than 30 different foods, feeding therapy can help!
