The healing and need for support does not stop with the treatments do - the end of the treatment marks the beginning of the serious work of recovery. The need for support never ends.

🎗👋That post cancer life hits different. We have a support group for you- The Young Adult Survivorship Support Group is a collective of young adults, 16-25, one year post osteosarcoma treatment, coming together to address the past so they can create healing, hope, and transformation.

🗣These virtual meetings are meant to provide a space for sharing and reflection about the trials, tribulations, and successes of everyday life post-treatment. When we come together as a group, we combat isolation and increase our understanding about the complex nature of survivorship.

👏This, and every MIB Agents program, is free of charge, thanks to generous donors who Make it Better.

Another message to make my heart burst with joy! This gets right to the root of why I wanted this story to exist in the world. 💗💗💗

“Hi Emily, Brigitta and I just read your book and we loved it! I have been stressing over what to say if a kid ever makes Brigitta feel bad about her leg. That book answered my question! It was perfect. Tell your mom I said ‘thank you’ too. 🙂 Here are a couple of pictures of Brigitta reading ‘The Girl With the Robot Leg.’ It was funny because Brigitta is not usually a camera person but when I told her that you wanted a picture of her reading the book you wrote, she all the sudden was very particular about how they were taken. It was also very important to her that you could see ‘BOTH of my beautiful legs’ in the picture. :)”

There is not a one among us who would have ever thought that one day they would have a leg amputated above the knee. Far rarer are those who would actually be forced to face such a calamity. Of the many thousands who I know and love, less than six people come immediately to mind who have endured it,...

Our culture is saturated with messages to "stay positive." While self-help book authors that advocate optimism have good intentions for spreading the word, happiness and all other light emotions have been positioned as "good emotions." This has led many to shun the dark emotions.

An amputee survival kit is your collection of products and tools that keep you comfortable and mobile. It should also be easy to carry around since you can’t afford to be caught empty-handed in a prosthetic emergency. It’s best to prepare a few amputee survival kits. You can have one at home, on...
