ACSMH humbly hosted our first-ever Women’s Wellness Retreat Weekend in Sedona, Arizona, from May 22–25.

What unfolded was a truly special experience centered on sisterhood, connection, community, prayer, laughter, friendship, reflection, healing, and heartfelt conversations. Together, we created space to rest, reconnect, and pour into ourselves and one another amidst the beauty of Sedona’s red rocks.

We extend our deepest gratitude to for serving as the presenting sponsor of this retreat and for their continued dedication to uplifting and investing in our community. We extend our deepest gratitude to .adventures for their co-organizing and commitment to the different journeys one may experience. We also thank for their outreach and support in sharing this event among our Arizona community.

We are also incredibly grateful to .designs.co, , and for their generous contributions to our welcome gifts and retreat experience. We are grateful to and for our itinerary graphics and T-shirt designs. Finally, we are grateful to the individuals at the .mentalhealth team for their hard work and dedication to making this all happen.

This gathering marked the beginning of what we hope will become an annual tradition dedicated to supporting the mental health and wellness of women within our Assyrian, Chaldean, Syriac community. Seeing this vision come to life has been both humbling and deeply meaningful. It was an honor to hold space for such remarkable women and to witness the strength, vulnerability, wisdom, and beauty that emerged throughout the weekend.

To every woman who joined us: thank you for trusting us with your stories, your presence, and your hearts. This is only the beginning. 🤍✨

We are featuring Sandy Nano—a doctoral student in clinical psychology at Adler University. She is currently recruiting participants for her dissertation study and would truly appreciate your support. Her study is exploring intergenerational trauma and attachment among first- and second-generation Assyrian American adults.

To participate, you must:
• identify as Assyrian
• be 18 years or older
• currently live in the United States
• be a first- or second-generation Assyrian American
(First generation = born outside the United States; Second generation = born in the United States to at least one immigrant parent).

No identifying information will be collected, and all responses will remain anonymous. Participation is completely voluntary, and you may stop the survey at any time.

Please note: if you know Sandy personally, you are not eligible to participate in this study. However, you are welcome to share this flyer with others who may meet the eligibility criteria.

If you are eligible, she would be very grateful if you would take the time to complete the survey, which takes approximately 30–40 minutes. Your participation would help support research that increases understanding of the Assyrian community.
