East Valley Mobility and Massage now accepts HSA/FSA cards for payment of services.

Using your benefits is a great way to ensure you’re receiving regular manual therapy, and saving some tax money in the process, win-win (and you get to spend some extra time on that heated, cozy table, gazing up at the twinkly lights, so add an extra win in there ☺️)

I look forward to seeing you!

So often clients tell me that the work we do together is like therapy. I like to remind them that I am a licensed massage therapist, so I’m happy to hear the therapy is showing up to the massage appointment. 😆

The work we do is absolutely therapeutic, getting mind, body, and breath in synchronization to promote wellness and healing. Almost like magic ✨

Lyric of the day “weekend edition”

This song is more than just a great “break up with him!” anthem, it’s a lesson that applies in all relationships.

Staying in the company of those who do not support us, cheer for us, encourage us, kepts us stuck in limitation, from their limiting beliefs AND our own.

Sometimes we have to choose loneliness for a while, until we can find those who do believe in us, challenge us to improve and heal and face those limiting beliefs and dismantle them.

It’s important to note that loneliness serves a purpose of its own. It gives the opportunity to find self encouragement, self compassion , self empathy, and self love.
And that is what will help us find it with others, by recognizing it in ourselves first.

Much love and continued healing,
Jen

I read once that Arizona skies are the most photographed in the world. I believe it, the majority of my own phone storage is being used on photos of the sky (and funny filter selfies with my daughter, a favorite activity of ours).

The photos never capture the moments I was in when I took them. Some things need to be experienced, not merely seen. I think why we take so many photos is to capture the feeling we are having, not the sight we are seeing.

That feeling promotes a state of Reverie and it’s a very specific frequency, or vibration. It is a vibration of gratitude, of awe, and of connectedness. When you are experiencing reverie you are in a state of receiving, of healing. Your body releases hormones and chemicals while in this state of gratitude and receiving that balance and align. You are creating neuro pathways and circuits for healing.

Isn’t that incredible? Just stopping to experience a sunset can set you up for better health.

I challenge you to seek out moments of reverie. When you notice something particularly lovely or beautiful or awe-inspiring, pause to appreciate it fully.

Stay rooted in that moment and breathe it in. Slow down and pay attention to how it FEELS in your body (for me it is especially noticeable in my chest, it feels like a warm buzz/hum/vibration emanating outward). With practice, mindfulness and intention, this feeling will become easier to notice.

Train that feeling!

I would love to hear any experiences you have had with reverie and the magic power it holds ❤️✨💖

Cupping remains my top pick for self care and maintenance!
My hands and forearms take a beating between my workouts with strength training and my work as a detail specific massage therapist.
It can be difficult finding time with qualified therapists who truly know how to address the underlying issues.
So self care is a top priority to keep me able to work injury free.

So often, our joints get slightly misaligned, from pressure and chronic use patterns (the doom scroll on your phone, for example). These slight misalignments can cause dysfunction patterns all the way down the movement chain, from shoulder to elbow and elbow to wrist and wrist to finger tips! That’s right, that “carpal tunnel syndrome” we self diagnose so often? It might just be some of the many wrist joints slightly misaligned and causing dysfunction throughout the entire wrist and hand!

👉You might not need surgery, you might just need a massage from a qualified therapist. 👈

Cupping at the joints helps to relieve the pressure throughout the joint and the tendons and ligaments and muscles that attach to them. This relief from pressure can often result in the nervous system “resetting” the associated tissues and gently realigning the structure.

What questions do you have about cupping? Have you ever had cupping done in your recovery? What kind of results did you notice?

I am currently working on a new service to add into existing bodywork treatments.

I haven’t worked out the details yet, but here’s the rough outline:

I believe very much in intentional bodywork. The tools I use all serve a functional purpose, in addition to feeling good (for the most part).

This includes the music that plays while I work.

Sometimes it helps me get into a better flow state, which helps me listen more to the patterns and signals from my clients nervous system and less to the thoughts in my head “telling” me what to do.

Sometimes it helps melt the mind of my client, specific beats and rhythms designed to bring their brain waves into a healing state, so their bodies (because of that nervous system again, big player here) are more receptive to the work I am administering.

I have recently been discovering the power of tapping into the unconscious mind. Bringing awareness to the thoughts that distract me from my focus, my purpose. Finding strength and power in learning to choose not to be pulled into distraction by the many many thoughts flowing through my head, and instead choosing to sink deeper into my focus, my goals and dreams and how to make them happen.

Much of this work I am doing with the help of recorded guided meditations.

So, if we are going to listen to something anyway, why not listen to something that has the possibility of deepening your relaxation (and thereby your muscle tension) as well as the added benefit of working on your mindset and focus?

Again, it’s a rough outline at this point but I think it has the potential to be an incredibly therapeutic mind AND bodywork treatment and I’m really excited to test out my hypothesis.

I am going to need some practice beings, so if you or someone you know would be interested in something like this, stay tuned for a special intro offer as part of my Focus focus group 😉

As always, thank you for supporting me, encouraging me, and helping shape the skills I was so fortunate to receive. I value our work together and look forward to continuing to help you work toward your goals.

This is what massage therapist self care looks like.
There’s also daily stretching, mobility work, and work outs with strength training. Otherwise, there is no way I could keep up with the needs of my clients!

Bodywork is very physically demanding. Massage therapists literally use their body to reduce pain and tension in the bodies of their clients. And, in doing so, we often take on some of that pain and tension. Good thing we know best how to address it, right?

Sure, it takes a lot of time but I have learned, in hard ways, that pushing myself too hard and not respecting my limitations is guaranteed failure. So I am working hard to figure out what ways I need to care for myself better and where I need stronger boundaries.

And the great thing is, as I learn to do this for myself, I have greater capacity to help my clients do the same. And that’s what it really all is about, empowering every client to have the knowledge and ability to manage their own pain within their own body. Finding what tools work for THEM and their specific and unique life to give them the ability to live that life better ❤️

One of the most consistently positive pieces of feedback I receive is about the comfort of my massage table. I do a few things to give my clients a luxury experience, one of those things has to do with my sheets.

The simple things in life are often the most satisfying and one of my favorite simple pleasures is clean sheets. The feeling of settling into a fresh, clean, comfortable space with the intent of relaxing and recovering is top notch in my book👌
To elevate that experience for my clients, I use a tiny bit of this laundry wash from Tyler Candle Company. A friend introduced this to me a few years ago and I have been using it ever since 🥰
I rotate through scents for my massage sheets, notable favorites are ”entitled” and “Kathina” and I get them on Amazon.
Seriously though, just add a teaspoon worth or LESS to a full load of laundry, it’s HIGHLY scented. One bottle of this stuff lasts me months, and I do a LOT of laundry.

I also apply a few drops of a breathe blend essential oil to the ends of the pillowcase on the face cradle of my table. I picked this little trick up from the spa where I started my massage career.
When you’re lying facedown, there is pressure on your sinuses and this can often lead to feeling stuffed up during the massage. It’s hard to breathe deeply that way but deep breathing is essential to calm the nervous system and a calm nervous system is essential for healing. If a few drops of oil can help each massage be more effective, that’s well worth the extra effort!
Essential oil, indeed.

Enjoy these little spa upgrades in your daily life, and book with me for the full therapeutic treatment. Now accepting new clients.

Where my pickle-ballers?
Don’t keep dill-ing with those aches and pains!
Come see me, and keep it kosher. (Pickle puns are not my bread and butter, be kind.) 🥒🥒🥒

Along pickleball's popularity have come injuries, especially in the feet, knees, hips, shoulders and arms, which may respond well to massage.

Hello! My name is Jen and I am the owner of East Valley Mobility and Massage.
This morning I was asked “so…what is it you do? Like, what are you in your career?”

Valid question! I am a Licensed Massage Therapist with a focus on mobility, injury prevention, and rehabilitation.
I help support athletes and active individuals in their physical goals for themselves, whether that be professionally or as maintenance.

Meaning: if you have a pinch near your elbow when you pick up a barbell, I want to help. If your low back hurts when you bend over, give me a call. If you feel a pulling on your knee when you squat, 👋👋👋 I’m your girl.

I have an extensive background in coaching, lifting, running, stretching, mobility, and working with bodies from a variety of backgrounds.

My goal is to help you move with greater flexibility and less pain. I got your back. 😊
