👋 Meet Rachael, MT-BC, one of the amazing team members here at The SPEAK Center and Belize volunteer!

🌟 Favorite therapy activity: I love singing 'Down By The Bay' and 'Try Everything' with clients! I also love teaching adapted piano lessons since piano is my primary instrument and was my first love in music.

🌟 Fun fact: I've been playing piano since I was 7 years old!

🌟 Why I love being an MT-BC: I love being able to help facilitate and witness client breakthroughs. It's really exciting to see a client develop a skill and become more confident.

🎵💙🎶Join us in celebrating Music Therapy Awareness Month and the professionals who make this work possible!

👋 Meet Ione, MT-BC one of the amazing team members here at The SPEAK Center!

🌟 Favorite therapy activity: Songwriting, there are so many ways to do it! You can write lyrics and instruments or use apps. Some of my favorite apps are using prerecorded loops like GarageBand or Remix live. I've even had clients engage in songwriting with coloring in musical canvas in Google Chrome Arts and Culture or Kadinsky in Google Music lab.

🌟 Fun fact: I save up and go to concerts for fun! I'll make short weekend trips and travel the country to see my favorite bands. Most recently I flew to Tampa to see a show. I love live music.

🌟 Why I love being an MT-BC: I love seeing individuals flourish and meet their goals, it's wonderful to use music to help a client grow!

Our volunteer team landed safely and has already begun serving families in Belize City at a local speech clinic. It has been such a meaningful start to the week connecting with children, caregivers, and the local community. 💫

👋 Meet Lauren, MT-BC, one of the amazing team members here at The SPEAK Center!
🌟 Favorite therapy activity: I love musical games, my favorites being musical lyric madlibs and musical Uno (play the rainbow bells as the card color/number indicates). Lots of goals are met simultaneously but the client is just having fun!
🌟 Fun fact: I know how to read music, but I prefer learning by ear.
🌟 Why I love being an MT-BC: I get to understand how and why music can help people improve their lives. I love playing and discovering all different types of music, and I love discovering new ways to use music to help people, especially in ways that don’t feel like work but feel more like fun.

🎶💛 March is Music Therapy Awareness Month, and we’re so proud to offer Music Therapy as one of the ways we support the amazing kids and families we serve! 🎶💛

All month long, we’ll be celebrating the incredible Music Therapists on our team who fill our hallways with melodies, laughter, learning, and joy. The sound of children singing, playing instruments, and reaching new milestones truly makes our hearts sing.

Music isn’t just background noise here - it’s how we help our kids find their rhythm, build skills, and make meaningful connections. Shoutout to all of our talented Music Therapists who make such a beautiful impact every single day.
