I remember back when I was pregnant with my first baby. I had no clue about planning for postpartum. I was more caught up on baby names and nursery themes.

Postpartum is a tender, raw, and powerful time. Your body is healing, your hormones are shifting, and you're learning a whole new rhythm with your baby.

You shouldn’t be cooking meals, managing visitors, or googling feeding positions at 2 a.m. You should be held, nourished, and supported.

Having “the village” isn’t just a saying - it’s a necessity.

You deserve people who will cook you food, fold your laundry, listen to your tears, let you nap, and remind you that you matter too 💖

Postpartum isn’t meant to be done alone. You need a village.

Let’s build yours together 💛

✨ I'm now taking final bookings for postpartum doula support in 2025 - DM to learn more or reserve your spot.

✨ birth room inspo ✨ ( #4 is aaaaaamazing!!)

Can I just say - you're ALLOWED to want a beautiful birth!!

You’re not shallow for wanting a peaceful, connected, powerful birth.
You’re not silly for imagining candles, affirmations, and music.

Yes birth is primal, but it can also be beautiful.

This isn’t about aesthetics. It’s about ownership. It’s about making space for joy in childbirth - not just surviving the experience.

My Birth Prep Guide helps you plan for the sensory, emotional, and spiritual parts of birth too. Because your soul deserves care, not just your cervix!!

Let’s talk numbers.

The World Health Organization recommends a cesarean rate of around 10–15% for optimal outcomes.

In the U.S.? We're pushing 32%. And no, it’s not because birth suddenly got riskier or bodies forgot how to work.

It’s because:
🏥 Inductions are often rushed
🏥 Patience runs short in busy hospital settings
🏥 Lawsuit fears shape decisions more than evidence
🏥 Birthing people’s voices are too often overlooked

Yes, cesareans save lives when they’re truly necessary.

But “just in case” isn’t a medical reason.

And unnecessary major surgery shouldn’t be the norm.

If you want to lower your chances of an avoidable cesarean, start by asking the right questions - before you're in the delivery room (or before you even agree to give birth with a particular provider!).

My free Birth Prep Guide walks you through exactly what to ask your provider (and yourself) so your care is based on informed choice, not hospital default.

Here’s something wild: so many hospital protocols are based on habit, not science.

Standard doesn’t mean safest.
Standard doesn’t mean best.

Want proof?
📉 Routine episiotomies were once “standard.”
📉 Enemas used to be “standard.”
📉 Supine pushing is STILL considered “standard.”

You deserve better than outdated routines.

My free Birth Prep Guide is packed with checklists and cheatsheets that help you make informed choices, not default ones.

To the one that made me a Mama - you were the first heartbeat I carried, the first little soul who changed mine forever.

God sent you to me for a reason.

You were my first teacher in strength, surrender, and love in its rawest, truest form.

Because of you, I became who I was meant to be 💛

FYI: You are not legally required to follow hospital policy.

They can’t force you to stay in bed.
They can’t force you into a cesarean.
They can’t refuse to let you eat.

Policy is not law. It’s preference.
✨ You have rights.
✨ You can advocate.
✨ You don’t need permission to own your body.

My free Birth Prep Guide includes questions to ask potential birth providers before you agree to birth under their care. This is SUPER important as it can take a lot of stress off your shoulders prior to delivery day.

If you ended up with a cascade of interventions you never wanted, it’s not because you “couldn’t handle childbirth.”

It’s because no one told you:
😠 Pitocin makes contractions more intense.
😠 Epidurals can slow labor.
😠 “Failure to progress” is often just “failure to wait.”

Stop blaming your body. Start blaming the system.

Hospitals area business - they often push speed, control, and compliance. It's just how they work... But it's not about patience. Not education. Not you.

So if you felt like things spiraled in your last labor… that’s not your fault. It’s a broken model of care.

Let’s talk real prep, real power, and real options. My free Birth Prep Guide helps you understand what’s normal, what’s not, and how to tell the difference - whether its your first or third baby.

YOU have the power to take back control of your experience and make it an empowering one 💪🏽💖

Your provider's comfort should not dictate your birth position.

That flat-on-your-back position? It's literally the worst one for your pelvis. But it’s great for your provider’s convenience.

Birthing on your back narrows your outlet and works against gravity. So why is it standard?

Because control is more comfortable for staff than empowerment is for patients.

Try:
✔️ Hands & knees
✔️ Squatting
✔️ Side-lying
✔️ Whatever your body tells you

One of my roles as a doula is helping Mamas understand their physiology and assisting with labor positions that support your physiology - not just hospital routines.

Here’s some science: constant fetal monitoring doesn’t actually improve outcomes for low-risk births.

But it does increase the chance of:
🚨 Unnecessary interventions
🚨 False alarms
🚨 Cesareans

Still it’s often used because it’s “easier for staff.” Not safer. Just easier.

A 2019 study analyzed birth registry data from two U.S. states and found that continuous EFM in low-risk, term pregnancies was associated with a 10% to 40% increased risk of primary cesarean delivery and a 14% to 24% increased risk of assisted vaginal births.

Importantly, the study concluded that continuous EFM was not associated with a reduced risk of infant mortality in term births.

Plus - a Cochrane review of over 37,000 women found that continuous cardiotocography (a form of EFM) did NOT significantly reduce perinatal death rates compared to intermittent auscultation. But it was associated with a 63% increase in cesarean sections and a 15% increase in instrumental vaginal births.

When it comes to low-risk pregnancies, these studies show how continuous EFM may lead to higher intervention rates without corresponding improvements in neonatal outcomes.

The bottom line is: You can ask for intermittent monitoring. You can request movement. You can challenge what’s “standard practice.”

You can keep your birth safe and autonomous. You are not a hospital protocol.

This one might sting… a hospital’s main priority is not your perfect birth…

It’s:
🏥 Liability
🏥 Efficiency
🏥 Risk management
🏥 Revenue

That’s not evil - it’s reality (this is coming from someone who works IN the medical system).

But YOU are the only one prioritizing your experience, values, and well-being.

(A great documentary that EVERY expectant mama should watch - The Business of Being Born, goes into tons more detail with real world scenarios).

Know their policies. Learn the routines. Ask why. Push back.

My free Birth Prep Guide arms you with the most important questions to ask your provider so you don’t walk in blind.

Hate to break it to you, but it’s NEVER too late to walk away from a provider who doesn’t respect you.

If your OB:
❌ Talks down to you
❌ Ignores your questions
❌ Pressures you into decisions
- you don’t owe them your labor.

You’re not “too far along.” You’re not “being dramatic.” You’re being responsible.

It’s YOUR birth. Don’t hand it over to someone you don’t trust.

There are some super important questions to ask when it comes to choosing a supportive provider.

I’ve created a done-for-you list inside my free birth prep guide.

Comment “GUIDE” and I’ll send a link straight to your inbox.

It’ll help you choose a provider you can trust, and w**d out the ones who treat you like just another number.
