There's a word for what happens to a woman when she becomes a mother โ€” and it goes far deeper than the physical.
Matrescence is the psychological, emotional, and relational transformation of becoming a mother. It's ongoing. It's complex. And for too many women, it goes unacknowledged.

On Wednesday, May 27th from 9AM to 12PM at Trinity Lutheran Evangelical Church, KP Counseling Center is hosting Holding Space for Becoming: Matrescence and Maternal Health โ€” a 3-hour workshop designed to open up this conversation with honesty, compassion, and care.

This workshop is for you if:

You're a mother navigating identity shifts, emotional overwhelm, or a sense of loss you can't quite name
You've experienced reproductive loss or grief and haven't had space to process it
You're a mental health provider, counselor, social worker, or pastor supporting mothers in your community
You simply want to understand this journey better โ€” for yourself or someone you love

Today is National Mental Health Provider Appreciation Day, and we want to take a moment to honor the counselors and therapists who show up every day with compassion, patience, and purpose. ๐Ÿ’™ Your work matters more than words can say. Thank you for helping people find their footing, build resilience, and rediscover hope.

This May, we also celebrate Counseling Awareness Month โ€” a time to recognize the profound impact counselors have on individuals, families, and communities. To every mental health provider out there: you are seen, you are valued, and you are deeply appreciated. ๐ŸŒฟ
