I have been both alternatively grateful and pi**ed about my physical limitations since the day I was born…as I age I’m leaning more and more towards gratitude for the lessons this body has given me, and the gifts it has allowed.
At the same time, trauma, pain, grief and loss are companions and we must figure out our relationships with each. As a psychologist, we know adaptation is probably the most healthy way…so I TRY TO adapt. I ride my bike only when I can, and only how hard I can. Mentally, I try to adapt to the changes in culture in the world around me—keeping close track on what I can do, what I can change, how I can help.
Grounding techniques help me—nature ALWAYS (including birds in my yard and the pets in my house—but the walks I take too), holding hands with someone I love, finding the things that make me happy and rested…constantly working towards psychological flexibility…
BE PRESENT
DO WHAT MATTERS
OPEN UP (tenants of ACT tx)
Maybe we can’t change some things but there sure is a lot we can. 😘
And just like my hip, don’t forget, 🎼 “you are titanium” 🎶 🎵

I’ve lived lots of places in my life—some I hope to live in again one day. But I’ve never loved a PLACE like I love where I live now—the people, yes so much—this is actually a pic of a friend’s dock on a magical night—but the placcceeee is so wild and present that you can’t ignore it. It’s impossible to evade the birds, the pluff mud smell at low tide, the TIDES, the magic of the lowlands. It recenters me. 🩷🌊🐟🐬🦆🦉🐦🦩🪶🐦⬛🪺🐦🔥 I believe, the actual world can recenter us and rewire our cells, prepare us for the work of loving.

Hi! Great article that highlights Psychological Secrets for Emotional Success, as well as other helpful ideas and books!
Good morning. In a world gone mad, I have chosen to go full witch. I thought I was before, but perimenopause and the changes it has brought to my entirety are astounding.
I am now spending every morning communing with the birds. I have had a pretty high/low relationship with this big old house and the surroundings as it’s been a Money, and sometimes Soul Pit for a bundle of reasons. We still may break up someday.
But for now, I have the marsh, right outside my bedroom, right outside my kitchen, nearly on top of my side porch where I have coffee when I can, and the birds.
I tired of not understanding who was talking to whom so I now am obsessed with the .bird.id which is free and based out of Cornell Labs. 🩷🦆🕊️🦅🦜🐥🦢🐓🦃🦉🦤🦩🐦⬛🐦🔥🪿🪺
Here is a list of who I spoke with this am. Second two I’m trying to see if I can put my eyes on them or not.
Important. 🩷
Let’s literally ground ourselves.

Is it a perfect morning with one of my kitties, two of my dogs, and all of my bird friends on the side porch? Yes ha yes it is.
Got a new coffee maker because I blew the other one up—these days, I *often* forget to put a mug under the pot, so naturally coffee runs everywhere. On the last occasion I forgot to…put the water container on the back. Smoke, stink, dead coffee maker. This is why we can’t have nice things folks.
So this morning, I have fresh coffee from my fresh machine and I’m here with my animal friends (familiars one might say), gratituding the p**p out of my morning.
Happy—a short list
Happy that:
My kids love their Nana & Pappap
It’s cool and not sunny
I have half and half
Birds are busy
They like the new suet
Tiny dog on my feet
Big dog by my side
Kitty purring nearby
Time with my eldest today
Big kids doing well, two on big adventures
Husband happy inside
Healthy
Full fridge (like just returned from big trip had to refill everything full)
Friends
Plants we planted last year are blooooooming (more that G wants them to, less than I want them to hahaha)
Yellow light
Lalalalalaalalalalalaa light
Good morning!! ☀️🌞 🧡
And I just SAW THE WOODPECKER!! Score!! Hahaa kiss kiss I go do the things now, refueled with happy (and covered in pet hair)

Barcelona—and some dancing—my favorite activity I never ever get to do, with one of my most favorite dancing buddies thanks for capturing my moments of joy haha
Obviously I can’t capture the breathtaking awe and connection I felt to Guadi’s masterpieces, or photos of the girls here in this public space, or express the love and happiness and rejoicing I got to have as we grew our friendship and love and happiness all of us seeing so many new and beautiful things.
Am I gushing? If I am it’s because I can’t even believe what I’ve gotten to see and do these past few weeks—and I’m effusive. 😘 now, can’t wait to see the petssssss and our big grown up kids!!!! 😘

Santorini, Ephesus/ Turkey, & Malta—I had no idea about so much history, that ancient Greeks knew the earth was round—millennia before the Spanish and English traveled on the sea. So much to take in. The more I learn another door opens and there is another universe of which I know so little. Humbled and in awe after walking these ancient spaces, many I learned about as an undergrad Art History major—but didn’t truly GET—I guess my perspective is only so big. Hopefully it grows with time and experience.

Sometimes we get lucky in life and we get a reset—mine came this past three weeks by way of special family time in New York, and then a trip to Greece, Turkey, and Spain with G., the girls, and some of our very best friends and their daughter.
I have wanderlust, so I shouldn’t be surprised about how open and renewed I feel—the past six months have been pretty awful, and a lot of new and exciting things are coming mid-August, so I left for this trip concerned about finances, excited, and depleted.
I write this now with a deeper (I hope) appreciation for ancient philosophy—look, the pictures don’t show the kids, being tired, alllllll the food, it can only be a glimpse—but distilled let’s say it was one of the luckiest I’ve ever felt, and I am recharged for what’s to come, I hope.
We had laughter with the dearest friends as family, and hugs from people we love, we cackled, kissed, cried. I hope some of it imprinted on the kids, and that they seek the magic feeling of being uncomfortable and learning about others (and our shared history)…I hope/plan to carry all this joy and excitement into my life. 🩷 here’s a poem and a very narrow glimpse through pics. The men in the photos are my husband, and two of my best friends. 🩷 sometimes the back of a head of a girl I love. Xo
Pics split into a few posts semi-based on locale. All based on happiness & adventure.
