Todays thought:
I used to be so embarrassed/ashamed about my past. Dysfunction was the main character in the play that was my life. My idea of normal was anything but.
The older I got and the more I understood about life made me more sure that what my “norm” was-was not right. Drug abuse, alcoholism, poverty, domestic abuse and bullying were things I witnessed and dealt with as a child (and into my adulthood).
I never fit in. I always had so many other things to worry about than normal “kid” things. Normal “teenage” things. Even through adulthood-I was painfully introverted. Socially awkward. Just didn’t fit in.
Now looking back, I wouldn’t change a single thing. It took a long time, but I truly now embrace what makes me eccentric. What sets me apart. It is truly a miraculously wonderful feeling to be a weirdo and love that! To own that. I love being different.
*I love that my house is made up of every little hand picked thing from estate sales and antique stores. Everything has a story. *I love my broom collection and my witchy room. So many books and crystals!!
*I love that I went and bought every special childhood toy of mine that was lost in multiple evictions growing up and are now housed in said witchy room!! (Hollie hobbie, weebles, strawberry shortcake dolls, etc)
*I love that I am considered the “Good Witch” who makes fun and healing potions.
*I love that I have homeopathic ways to heal. And that I took two homeopathy classes.
*I love that I am a licensed hypnotist.
* I love that I keep taking classes to learn. Reflexology, reiki and an array of law enforcement ones to name a few.
*I love that I am passionate in my beliefs and that I finally found my voice to respectfully state my beliefs and stand strong while doing so.
*I love that I make friends with Starbucks baristas.
*I love to always buy that police officer a coffee or lunch when I see them and always thank them.
*I love that no matter how introverted I am I WILL walk up to a stranger and tell them that their dog is so incredibly beautiful and fall on my knees to kiss and pet the wonderful little baby.
*I love that I wrote two children’s books and was able to read them to a group at my childhood library.
* I love my eclectic taste in music and that I know many old school hip hops and R&B songs word for word.
*I love the feeling that comes from knowing I can list more things that I like about me. 🙂. It hasn’t always been like that.
And I love that I have my wonderful husband and wonderful circle of amazing people that accept my quirky things and love me for who I am. And, finally, I love my amazing little doggies that fill my heart with love and joy every day.
What do you love about you?
