As I feed my baby sitting in a parking lot in my car, it hit me! Their are moms that do not have this luxury!

If you are a exclusively pumping mom how are you prepping for the power outages?
Battery packs? Ice coolers? Hand held pumps?

With the weather looking pretty intimidating, and roads could get shut down, I know this is something that could be on your mind.

Here are a few things to think about and prepare to hold you over until you get the help you seek.

This week's grocery budget was $100 and without the sleds we bought, we stayed right on budget. I had to bump up my grocery day in prep for the possible ice storm and add a few items that I wouldn't normally get like canned goods.

I feel well prepared for any power outages or road closures. Now, im just hoping some snow comes with this ice.

Luckily I am not on call for any births this weekend but if you are within your due period and nervous about getting to your place of birth or If your midwife will get to you, make sure you are prepared with some basic items. Message me if you have any questions.

Cervical progression only matters when we are considering options of intervention. A cervical exam can only tell us what the provider notices about our cervix in that exact moment.

Change in your cervix may be how your provider measures progression in labor but it is NO indication of how long your labor will be and it is not the only way you should be measuring your progression.

Besides cervical change, progress in labor can look like

Homeschooling is never something I had planned on but as my kids were born and we established what core values we wanted to instill in our children, family UNITY was at the top of our list. Homeschooling only made sense.

Everyone has a different WHY as to why they homeschool or dont. There are so many pros and cons we can list them all day. But, at the end of each day, I know that for me and my family... this is the best decision.

I am sorry I will never be that person that video tapes me walking through the store just to show me throw things in my cart. I dont have that kind of time or devotion ๐Ÿ˜…

But I will tell you a little bit more about this grocery haul. Very rarely do I go grocery shopping without all four kids but this time was just me and Freya. Grocery shopping is one of my favorite things so I dont think I will ever be the grocery pick up mom.
This week we needed mostly fresg fruits and veggies, lunch items, a few staple items, and items that my husband needs specifically for his meals.

For health reasons my husband is eating separate meals than the rest of the house so it adds to the amount I need to purchase but things do tend to stretch a bit further. Next week's budget will be significantly less than this week.

I am not really a meal planner and I know if I shopped sales in a bunch of local store I may find better deals but for this season of life, I am an aldi shopper flying by the seed of my pants.

Home Birth on Your Own Terms by Heather Baker is my most valuable resource. I use it often when I find myself feeling the fear that unexpected situations bring.
You know- those situations that make you feel like you are backed into a corner or, this is no longer in my control or within my understanding so now I must succum to the "experts" in emergency.
This book was created as a resource for moms that are preparing for an unassisted birth (aka Freebirth) so it is packed with so much information to guide you through the hard situations that many find emergent. It talks about herbs, tincture, homeopathic remedies and so much more.

Do I reccomend all moms read this book? Eeehhh not necessarily.... but
If you are someone who has a great foundation of birth knowledge already and do not need medical reassurance before making a decision for your pregnant body, I think you would want to have this info.
Or
If you are a doula, I highly reccomend this book to just have more in depth natural options and information for your clients.

Apparently May is Doula Appreciation Month, who knew?

Well, my beautiful cousin Necosha Leach did. I had the honor of supporting her and my other beautiful cousin while bringing their sweet babies into this world this past fall.

I feel so grateful for these memories with family and I truly appreciate being celebrated as their doula. Thank you both for the wonderful picnic and taking these beautiful photos with me. I love you both and can't wait to do this again ๐Ÿ’• you are both absolutely wonderful mothers and I am so happy to have family like you ๐Ÿค—๐ŸŒป

Here it is. The moment everyone has been waiting for.

Introducing ๐ŸŒธ๐ŸŽ€ Freya Brielle Smith ๐ŸŽ€๐ŸŒธ
Born safely at home with just me, Omar, and Titan present. She weighs 7lb 15oz as my smallest baby yet. She also was my fastest labor and came in right after the eclipse this morning. Everything happened so perfectly and we are both happy and healthy.

I'll post a full birth story soon

I can't hold a secret very long so here it is! ๐Ÿคฐ๐Ÿผ๐ŸŒŸ

Although it is quite a surprise, I also have dreamed of having more little ones to love. I am already looking forward to this next birth journey and prioritizing my health now.

I am getting some nausea but I have been loading up on protein rich meals throughout the day and taking multi organs supplement as well as folate and magnesium glycinate.

My boys are so excited and they are definitely hoping for a baby sister this time ๐Ÿ’–๐Ÿ’–

Samson and this baby will be about 21/22 months apart which is the same as Odin and Titans age gap!

I am happy to answer any questions about my plans for pregnancy and birth this time around ๐Ÿค—
