A lesson in the little....
Last night at Grow Groups we talked about life problems and how God can do more with your little than when you try to fix your problems on your own.
We were specifically talking about one of my favorite miracles in scripture where God used a newly assigned prophet Elisha to help a newly widowed woman with just a pot of oil. She had a huge amount of debt to be paid and the government was coming for her two sons. The problem with that is in Biblical days... these two sons would be her only hope at survival because they would be the breadwinners.
The thing that constantly stuck out to me in the passage (2 Kings 4:1-7) is that Elisha never asked her for her two sons and what they could give. He never asked even for what she thought was possible. He simple asked... "What is in thine house?"
He didn't ask for her to believe that the need would be met. He didn't ask for her to trust in him. He simply asked her what she had. Her one little pot of oil was blessed in such abundance that it provided for her household for the rest of their lives and took care of the debt she owed. What a God!!!
Have you ever had one of those proverbial "frying pan" moments? You know the ones where God hits you over the head with a bit of reality of WHO He is?
God reminded me, even as I was teaching last night, God never asks us for something we don't possess to bless. He takes the little we have and multiples it beyond our wildest dreams. He never asks for something that we need, He simply asks for us to give Him what we have.
When I started on this digital marketing journey, I was scared to death. Just as I shared yesterday, change isn't something we naturally desire to create. We are creatures of habit. I was so scared because the little I had to offer, I didn't think God could ever use. I love to read and write, but how was He going to turn that into something that could provide for my family?
I have no degree at all! I actually quit nursing school to start a direct sales business (10/10 do NOT recommend).
I have no experience in a professional field. I have only ever worked for my family owned restaurants, Dr. Karen Reeves as an office assistant, and CVS pharmacy as a pharmacy tech... how would I attract my ideal client to do this?
I have ZERO time on my hands. I am a busy work from home momma of 3, pastor's wife that prefers to be busy serving in the church, already own 3 businesses, create logos and websites for churches, a virtual assistant to a sales leader and a digital graphics designer for our church too. OH, and to top it all off I am constantly in coaching courses to better my skillset God has gifted me with. It's A LOT!!!!
That's when He reminded me.... Kimberly, I can do more with your little than you can with your "A LOT". So invested the little bit of money and time that I had into another business adventure. He has blessed it beyond what I could ever imagine possible!!! The first question many of my family members had... "Kimberly, what are you giving up?" To be honest with you friends, I didn't want to give up anything.
After being tested time and time again, I can assure you one lesson that has been taught... God will shut doors no man can open and open doors no man can shut!!!! He has done it time and time again!
As I sat here this morning with this book in front of me that the Lord allowed me to create, He reminded me yet again of how He can do so much with my little.
This little book has made its way across the big lake over to Switzerland and many other countries. I never thought I could get the gospel message to these places... and I am absolutely right... I can't! But God can and He did!!!
So now I ask you friend, what little do you have that you could give to Him? He blessed you with something to be a blessing! What is that thing?
Many people live their entire lifetime doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different outcome. Maybe the thing you're praying for God has already placed in front of you, you're just not willing to move out of the "comfort zone" you've lived in for so long. Maybe God is closing a door for you and you find yourself at a crossroads in life not knowing where to go... He has already given you everything you need to move to the next place He is calling you to! Isn't that so encouraging?!?!?
I pray today that you have enough faith to put the little bit you have into the hands of the Multiplier. The One that can take your little and blow your mind with it.
People say to me often... "I wish I could do what you do"... when the truth is I don't do anything. I just have enough child-like faith to believe that if He has called me to it, I would be silly not to go! That if He has paved the way, I would be silly not to jump on it.
But how do you know its from God, Kimberly???
If it's from the Lord, it never feels FORCED! It is smooth as glass and happens effortlessly. If it is not from the Lord, it will feel forced every single time.
STOP HOLDING BACK and hold on to the nail scarred hand that paved the way!!!! Now, BOLDLY WALK IN IT!!!!
