Truth be Told Tuesday!

The truth is, it was never meant to be this sugary, carby, snacky, to go meal that it is now deemed to be.

It wasn't the time for bagels with cream cheese, granola bars, or donuts.

Breakfast was simply BREAKING YOUR FAST meaning, finally eating after your body has fasted for many hours.

Now because of the society changed, people have adapted many habits that has caused them to throw their hormones off, increase insulin resistance, and gain weight.

Every year you tell yourself youโ€™re going to stay motivated during the holidays, so this season follow these tips to make it happen.

Maintain the right mindset

Staying motivated wonโ€™t be possible unless you start out with the right mindset. Go into the holiday season determined and dedicated. Make a promise to yourself that you are going to stick to your holiday health plan. Donโ€™t make excuses when the time comes for your workout.

1. Make a schedule

Making a plan and workout schedule ahead of time will make it a lot more difficult to make excuses when the time comes. If you are prepared, you are more likely to get it done.

2. Workout with a partner

Working out with a partner is always a motivator, regardless the time of year. Ask a good friend or family member to be your workout partner and head with you to the gym. Having someone to hold you accountable for your workouts and vice versa will ease the pressure on you to stay self-motivated.

3. Make it a family activity

If you are struggling to find the time to balance working out and also spending time with your family, then make getting an exercise a family activity. Go on a hike with your family, a walk, play a dance game, or kick it up a notch and try a fitness class together.

4. Try group fitness classes

Try a group fitness class . Group fitness classes are a great way to stay motivated

5. Do short HIIT workouts

When you are short for time, HIIT workouts are a really great option. They achieve a lot in a short amount of time. They are great in that they incorporate cardio as well as strength training. November is National Healthy Skin Month

Your skin is the largest organ of your body. The health of your skin can reflect your general health.

Tips to keep skin healthy

1. Protect yourself from the sun

One of the most important ways to take care of your skin is to protect it from the sun. A lifetime of sun exposure can cause wrinkles, age spots and other skin problems โ€” as well as increase the risk of skin cancer.

2. Don't smoke

Smoking makes your skin look older and contributes to wrinkles. Smoking narrows the tiny blood vessels in the outermost layers of skin, which decreases blood flow and makes skin paler. This also depletes the skin of oxygen and nutrients that are important to skin health.

3. Treat your skin gently

Daily cleansing and shaving can take a toll on your skin. To keep it gentle:

Limit bath time. Hot water and long showers or baths remove oils from your skin. Limit your bath or shower time, and use warm โ€” rather than hot โ€” water.

Avoid strong soaps. Strong soaps and detergents can strip oil from your skin. Instead, choose mild cleansers.

Shave carefully. To protect and lubricate your skin, apply shaving cream, lotion or gel before shaving. For the closest shave, use a clean, sharp razor. Shave in the direction the hair grows, not against it.

Pat dry. After washing or bathing, gently pat or blot your skin dry with a towel so that some moisture remains on your skin.

Moisturize dry skin. If your skin is dry, use a moisturizer that fits your skin type. For daily use, consider a moisturizer that contains SPF.

4. Eat a healthy diet

A healthy diet can help you look and feel your best. Eat plenty of fruits, vegetables, whole grains and lean proteins. Drinking plenty of water helps keep your skin hydrated.

5. Manage stress

Uncontrolled stress can make your skin more sensitive and trigger acne breakouts and other skin problems. To encourage healthy skin โ€” and a healthy state of mind โ€” take steps to manage your stress. Get enough sleep,

Puttanesca Gnocchi ๐Ÿคค

Gnocchi are delightful little dumplings that are incredibly comforting and satisfying. We paired them with a really punchy puttanesca sauce thatโ€™s full of flavour and super quick and easy to make! Dinner is sorted.

Ingredients:
1 tbsp olive oil from a jar of sun dried tomatoes
1 tbsp olive oil
2 sun dried tomatoes
2 cloves garlic
1 tsp chilli flakes
100g pitted kalamata olives
2 tbsp capers
1 small sprig rosemary
2 sage leaves (optional)
ยฝ tsp dried oregano
200g good quality cherry tomatoes
400g good quality chopped tomatoes
2 sprigs fresh parsley
Salt, pepper and sugar to taste
500g vegan gnocchi๏ฟฝ๏ฟฝTo Serve๏ฟฝ50g Rocket๏ฟฝ2 tbsp nutritional yeast
Extra virgin olive oil (to drizzle)

Prepare the ingredients | Finely slice the sun dried tomatoes | Grate the garlic | Halve the olives | Pick the rosemary and sage and finely slice | Halve the cherry tomatoes

Cook the sauce | Warm the oils in the frying pan and over medium heat | Add the sun dried tomatoes to the pan and stir for 1 minute | Add the garlic and chilli flakes and stir for 30 seconds | Add the olives and capers and stir for 1 minute | Add the rosemary, sage and oregano and stir for 1 minute | Add the cherry tomatoes and stir for 1 minute | Add the chopped tomatoes, stir to combine, turn down the heat, put the lid on and simmer for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally

Prepare the gnocchi | Fill a saucepan with boiling water from the kettle, put it on the stove over a high heat and add a big pinch of salt | Add the gnocchi to the pan and cook according to the package instructions (usually 2-3 minutes) | Drain the gnocchi

Mix the elements | Pick the parsley leaves and roughly chop | Taste the sauce and season to perfection with salt, pepper and sugar | Transfer the gnocchi into the frying pan, sprinkle over the parsley and stir to combine

Time to serve | Spoon the Gnocchi Puttanesca into serving bowls, sprinkle over a little nutritional yeast, dress with rocket, drizzle over a little olive oil, season with salt and pepper and serve immediately
