A Legacy of Compassion and Courage

Jane Goodall lived a remarkable life—one defined by empathy, discovery, and unwavering dedication. As a pioneering scientist, she reshaped our understanding of animals and taught the world that they are thinking, feeling beings who deserve respect and protection.

Her journey toward deeper compassion led her to embrace a vegan lifestyle after reading Animal Liberation. She bravely spoke out against cruelty wherever she saw it—calling the sight of chimpanzees in sterile metal cages during a 1986 lab visit “the worst experience of my life.” Her voice helped end the use of chimpanzees in experiments and inspired global action for animal rights.

Jane consistently stood on the side of animals. She challenged UPS to stop transporting hunting trophies, urged the closure of marine parks like SeaWorld, and called for an end to primate research facilities around the world.

Her legacy is powerful and enduring. The best way to honor her is by continuing the work she believed in—starting with choosing a lifestyle that shows kindness to all animals.
