Special delivery today thanks to a FNCE giveaway! 🤗

I had the pleasure of meeting the creators of Joel and Lynda and loved learning about their quest to create a bar that provided not only clean ingredients but that eliminated sugar crashes and bloating from processed protein bars.

All the flavors were so delicious but these peanut butter chocolate chip bars satisfy my sweet tooth! With 9 grams of fiber, 12 grams of protein, and no added sugars they make the perfect grab and go snack. These might just be the Last bar I buy 👌

Ready to give them a try? Click on the link in comments to order your sample box now! And don’t worry they offer a refund in case you decide they aren’t for you ✌️

These devices have been a life-changing tool for people with diabetes as they can say goodbye to a ton of fingersticks✌️

A CGM is a small sensor worn on the body that measures the amount of glucose in the interstitial fluid (via a plastic cannula under the skin without a needle).

It provides real-time data directly to a smartphone or other approved device.
There are several on the market and one of my favorites is the Freestyle Libre 3.

It is small, accurate, and can be worn for 14 days. Not to mention it is very cost-effective, even without insurance coverage it’s no more than $75/month 🙌

Whether you are newly diagnosed or have been living with diabetes for years, a CGM is a great tool to use as often or as little as you desire to get the results you need to live a long and thriving life with diabetes!

Would you like to see how it works?! I’ll let you in on a little secret…..🤫

Someone in my house has an elevated A1c in the prediabetes range and will be wearing the sample sensor I have 😮

Comment below who you think it will be: me, the hubs, or one of the girls! 🤔😳😉!

Did you know there is a type of diabetes only women can get? 🤔

Yep lucky for us it’s something else we may have to worry about during pregnancy called gestational diabetes 😮

Although it’s not directly related to food choices, there are factors that increase risk such as family history, high BMI, and history of having a large baby (over 9 pounds).

The Jovanovic diet is specifically designed to manage blood sugars for gestational diabetes by eating every few hours from wake to sleep with specific amounts of carbohydrates.

The bright side is you can eat before bedtime 🤗 AND it typically disappears immediately following delivery🤯

Although a small percentage of the diabetes poplulation has Type 1, it can be more of a life changing diagnosis than Type 2😳

Since the pancreas stops producing insulin, insulin is needed to survive: meaning forever or until we find a cure!

Learning to give injections, understand what affects blood sugars (so many more factors than just food), carbohydrates counting, while recovering from the original symptoms can be overwhelming 🤯

But there is HOPE🙏

The greatest satisfaction I get is working with people who walk in the door feeling hopeless but leaving feeling empowered and confident 💪🙌

There are so many tools to use now such as continuous glucose monitoring to reduce finger pricking or insulin pumps that do a lot of the “work” for you in helping manage insulin requirements!

Want to see how a continuous glucose monitor works🙋‍♀️ I’ve got you👍

Stay tuned for the end of
and I’ll be wearing one 😉

Did you know Type 2 diabetes is the most common form of diabetes?!

Over 90% of cases are Type 2 and not just in the older adult or overweight population 😳

Children as young as 10 are getting diagnosed now at alarming rates. This is a lifestyle disease not a genetic disease so this means that with lifestyle changes it can be reversed 🤯

Don’t let “lifestyle changes” make you run! I’ve been counseling people with diabetes for over 15 years and there are so many tips and tricks we can use without dieting or restricting favorite foods 🙌🤩

Stick with me the rest of November for Diabetes Awareness Month and see how some of these tricks work 🤔😉

As your Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist and since November is National Diabetes Awareness month, it’s my duty and passion to keep you informed!

Prediabetes is reversible with lifestyle changes that don’t involve dieting or giving up your favorite foods🍝🌮🍕 And the best part is that working with a Registered Dietitian is evidenced based in delaying the onset of type 2 diabetes🙌

Luckily many health insurance plans now cover preventative Medical Nutrition Therapy so you may not have to pay out pocket!!

So let your doctor know you want to get screened today since diabetes is not just a disease of the young or elderly anymore😬

If you’ve tried my first few tips for reducing sugar cravings and after a few weeks have not noticed a difference, the there could likely be another issue behind the sugar craze 🧐 Candida overgrowth can be very common and often can be seen by assessing white patches on the base of the tongue🫣 Hormonal imbalances are very common in women but in men can be an issue too. Adrenal fatigue is likely if you feel “burned out” or “running on empty” 🤪 I mean who doesn’t these days 🤷‍♀️
The nutrition changes are often different for each cause but can greatly improve symptoms and offer unbelievable health benefits!

Tip #3 for Reducing Sugar Cravings ⤵️
Changing our gut bacteria eventually changes what our bodies crave. These tiny bacteria make up about 80-90% of our immune function and taste buds. To increase healthy gut bacteria, we not only need to reduce the processed foods but we need to eat a variety of healthy foods. A great way to do this is to eat seasonal fruits and veggies (fresh or frozen is great)! I love to dump a bunch of random ingredients into a bowl or on top of different 🥬 for a variety of 🥗 ! What’s in your bowl or salad this time of year?! Comment below your fav combination 👩‍🍳👇

Ready for another insider tip for reducing sugar cravings🙋‍♀️
Aim to never eat sugar alone🧐
If you want to enjoy dessert, it’s best to have it after a meal rather than on an empty stomach. Or if having a sweet treat for a snack, add another food with protein, fat, or fiber!
Since these foods take longer to digest and naturally do not raise blood sugars as much as sugar and carbs, there is not usually a roller coaster effect. The larger the glucose spike, the more insulin that is needed, and the stronger the “crash” down is later. This roller coaster ride increases cravings for sugar as the body craves another “high”!
So next time you want to reach for a piece of 🍬or 🍫, eat a few nuts with it. If you want to enjoy fruit for a sweet treat, add some cottage cheese, cheese, or nut butter! What’s your favorite sweet treat combination?!

I asked, you answered! The number one complaint was sugar cravings!
This week I’ll share what the research says, what I’ve used with thousands of clients and personally to overcome sugar cravings and overindulgence in a substance that is all around us this time of year. A substance that is added to almost everything we buy in a package, wrecking havoc on our metabolic system and leading to insulin resistance, fatty liver, hormonal imbalances, poor immune function and more.
Today I challenge you to begin cleaning up your home and work environment of foods with more then 10 grams of added sugars, other ‘junk’ foods, and even sugar-free sweet treats. Tomorrow Ill show you better options to keep around when you crave sugar!
🥂to not grocery shopping hungry, purging the processed sugars, and showing up (eventually!) more energized from a “natural” high and not from a sugar “high” 💪
