Think back to how many "diets" you've been on in the past...
You had success and got the results you wanted... you lost the weight... but you didn't keep it off... and rather than go back on the same diet, you decided to try a different one... and the same thing happened. Despite the success and the results you got on each "diet," the same thing happened over and over and over again throwing you into a vicious cycle of yo-yo dieting.
You have been so accustomed to being told what to eat and when to eat it that you've forgotten how to listen to your own body and are therefore disconnected from your eating experience.
You became derailed easily from any progress you've made while on whatever "diet" you were on after feeling guilty about messing up or not following the plan to the letter.
Good results or not, you didn't have that much confidence that you could change yourself long term or the self-worth to know you were worthy of feeling good about yourself to begin with.
You had negative emotions around feeling negative emotions and you tried to distract yourself from that by eating.
You had (have) emotional attachments to food that you can't seem to let go of.
How do I know all this? Because that's exactly how I came to recognize that I, myself, was an emotional eater! (If you haven't already done so, take this online assessment to see if you are an emotional eater as well!)
I started this site with a quote (from an unknown source), "Don't believe everything you think!" because those 5 words have profoundly changed my life for the better since I heard them for the first time in 2011. At the time I thought (and believed) that...
I needed to trust and believe whoever had the hottest new diet out to tell me what was good for me, what was bad for me, what to eat, how much of it to eat and what time of day to eat it.
If I couldn't do these simple "diets" perfectly for the 12-week period they usually took that I was a failure who had no control over herself.
Negative emotions were bad things to have and in order to distract myself from them I needed food, which gave me an emotional attachment to it.
I hired my own Life Coach to help me with those beliefs because Life Coaches...
Promote self-awareness by assessing existing thoughts, emotions and beliefs
Observe behavioral and linguistic patterns so that saboteurs can be discerned (Hint: sometimes this includes limiting beliefs about yourself)
Help you to set specific goals rather than vague goals
Assist you in developing a plan of action and follow it through to the desired results!
One of the best themes I experienced in working with a coach is that they already had a basic framework to start with, but they did not spoon feed me with all the answers. My coach merely asked the right questions that facilitated me finding my own answers and helping me decide what would work for me. Doing this was the best thing for me because it allowed me to awaken the tools I needed in order to come into my own power. I benefited so much from what I learned that I couldn't wait to learn to teach others!
My training and education includes courses in:
Bachelor's Degree in Athletic Training
Behavior Change
Psychology & Motivation
Nutrition
Fitness
Life Coaching
Neurolinguistic Programming
Cognitive Behavioral Techniques.
If you choose to work with me:
You will always get a free 30 minute assessment to see if we are a good fit to work together. My expectations of you and what you can expect from me are also discussed during this time.
We will discuss together how to set goals and what your goals are, what the realities are around reaching those goals, what obstacles you face, and what you are willing to do to reach your goals.
I will provide a basic framework in the form of a workbook and help you fill in the gaps.
This is not a diet. I will never provide measured quantities of foods for you to eat or tell you when to eat them. I will, however, make suggestions on healthy foods to gravitate towards and unhealthy foods to keep to a minimum.
You will learn how to listen to your body. Our bodies are smarter than anyone has lead us to believe and learning the skill of listening to your body is one of the most powerful and productive skills you can learn in achieving your goals.
Our sessions are conducted either over the phone or via Zoom (your choice). I also offer a text/email-only format.
My program is broken up into 20 hour-long sessions. These are scheduled:Twice a week for 1 month to teach you the skills you need to learn to be successful,
Then once a week for 2 months to allow you go out on your own, apply what you've learned, and get weekly feedback from me in order to make any necessary changes to your plan,
Then biweekly for 2 months just to make sure you are staying on track.
There are several ways you can pay to work with me:
By-the-Session = $100/session
