The human body can only endure 45 units of pain, but at birth a woman can endure up to 57 units of pain, equivalent to 20 fractures at a time.
Never tell a woman she can't. Remember that only she could dance with two hearts and breathe with four lungs.
Only she could carry the weight of two worlds in her belly and give birth to life.
Don't tell her she's not capable, she's capable of everything!

Great birthing positions to try in a hospital setting.

Ever thought about how giving birth lying down is kinda...counterproductive? The birth canal curves upwards when you lie down, so you're going against gravity. Birthing on your back can make labor last longer because the body has to work much harder to eject the baby. It constricts blood vessels, meaning baby and mother won't receive the optimum levels of blood & oxygen. It also makes you more prone to tearing, and is typically more painful than birthing in an intuitive position. Your pelvis isn’t given the opportunity to open to its fullest capacity, and makes it harder for babies in non-optimal birthing positions to rotate or switch to better positions - which can lead to a need for medical intervention.

There are a number of positions to give birth in that are better for both mommy and baby. Unfortunately, hospitals sometimes have a habit of telling birthers that they “can’t” deliver a baby in any position besides on their backs. DON’T LISTEN. Request the squat bar. Adjust the bed to your liking. Switch to a side-lying position. Do what feels COMFORTABLE and - most importantly - follow your body’s lead.

My Story...

Here is something that many people don’t know about me. What I’m about to share changed the course of my life. It’s also a BIG reason why I am committed to paying it forward to couples that are expecting. When I was 28, my dad passed away at home after a short bout with cancer. I was with him when he died and I’ll never be able to convey the amount of despair that I felt knowing that my father, who was only 59, would not be there to walk me down the aisle or never meet his future grandchildren.

Over the next several months while processing his death, I realized that sometimes sickness and death are out of your control, but my grieving also included an ongoing search for answers to my recurring question “How could my dads illness have been prevented?”

For anyone who is looking for a blueprint to follow for longevity, I’ll save you the time. IT DOESN’T EXIST. What does exist are thousands of research studies, from academic institutions, that show a high correlation between the human lifestyle & current level of health.

My dad followed a typical American lifestyle. While he was very active, he was rarely proactive about his health. Like many people, he had to rely on doctors and medicine to try and restore his health while it was fading.
